Python Mk II
The Python Mk II is a multipurpose ship manufactured by Faulcon DeLacy. The Mk II is a redesign of its predecessor, the Python.
Overview
This vessel come in two variants: Standard and Stellar. The Stellar version is listed in the Pre-Built Ships section via the main menu. The Standard variant has nearly identical Outfitting as normal ships. The Stellar variant is equipped by default with four Multi-Cannons and two Pulse Lasers.
The Mk II can carry ten canisters or 10 tonne at maximum capacity without upgrades. This is significantly less than the 82 tonne cargo capacity of the original Python.
The Mk II has a higher default unladen jump range of 17.85 ly versus 8.23 ly. However, the upgraded FSD's jump range is worse at 18.41 ly versus 30.45 ly of the Mk I.
The Mk II has a superior hull better handling due to the equipped 5C Frame Shift Drive (SCO). It has a lower thermal load, slower fuel consumption, better acceleration and deceleration while overcharging. The Mk II costs more 79 million credits versus 57 million credits of the Mk I.
The Mk II's 6 hardpoints makes it more lethal in combat. It's suitable for Piracy, Bounty Hunting, Assassination missions and Xeno Hunting. Its enhanced maneuverability makes it better at tackling small ships.
Development
Frontier announced that this ship will be added with a free update in 2024. A developer update on 23 Apr 2024, revealed the release date on 7 May 2024 for 16,250 ARX, and 3 months later on 7 Aug 2024 for all players forcredits.
This is the first new ship added to ED in 6 years. Elite partners got early access on a test server on 1 May 2024.[1]
