Star Designation: LP 98-132

Poor, low population extraction economy. (Anarchy)

LP 98-132 is an anarchic system with a solitary small M2V type dim red star. There isn't a lot here, though there is some mining of valuable minerals like cobalt, rutile, and coltan, and very occasionally of gold. Piracy is rife here with pirates on the look-out for those high value cargoes. There is a station Freedom City operated by a group of locals, and this is the nearest thing to law that exists in the system.[1]

This system has four planetary bodies:

Anahit

  • Radius[2]: ~= 4280 km
  • Distance from gravity well: 182.44 ls
  • Orbit: Circular

Anahit is the local name for PL 98-132 1. It is a desolate planet good for little more than mining. It has a single ring system in which asteroid mining is the central focus. If one scowers the mine fields in those rings, it is likely they will find rich mining vessels and equally bountied pirate vessels. It is the home of Freeport, a coreolis station that is very lax in their interests so long as the rules are followed. It has a thriving black market and is easily accessible.

LP 98-132 2

  • Radius[2]: ~= 4,570 km
  • Distance from gravity well: 311.44 ls
  • Orbit: Circular

LP 98-132 2 is a bit of a black sheep among the inner planets of the LP 98-132 system ... literally. Rather than the rich mineral coloration on both Anahit and LP 98-132 3, this is a dull grey, with large expansive sea beds and extensive craters pocking the older surface areas. Of all the planets in the system, this is the most visually interesting, second only to the rings on Anahit, that is. The uniformity of the cratering is a curiosity, and makes for a dramatic and interesting view.

LP 98-132 3

  • Radius[2]: ~= 5,030 km
  • Distance from gravity well: 359.29 ls
  • Orbit: Circular

LP 98-132 3 is the almost entirely unremarkable, slightly larger brother to Anahit, and shares much of the same overall appearance and makeup, without the rings or orbital station. In other words, it is an almost entirely unworthy of comment. The mountain elevations on this planet are extreme and a point of interest if you like that sort of thing. Best seen along the horizon shadow. You might be surprised by what you see. Then again, perhaps not.

LP 98-132 4

  • Radius[2]: ~= 16,100 km
  • Distance from gravity well: 2891 ls (at closest point)
  • Orbit: Elliptic

LP 98-132 4 is the sole gas giant in this system, and resides on an orbital plain highly inclined (approximately 70˚) to the ecliptic or the other three planets with a very severe elliptic orbit, which brings it very close to the orbit of LP 98-132 3 at it's nearest to the central star. There is very little interesting in the formation of the planet, and though it might provide a means for fuel, with Freeport in system, this is hardly necessary.
