Edited locations, was out of date and misleading to players. Suggest a test to determine a persons "cherriness" before being able to edit pages as salty players write incorrect information.

Mining is only possible where there are metallic asteroids, which is a small minority of systems. By using the Targets menu on the left side of your cockpit you can find targets with names similar to "Belt Cluster 2". Naturally, this only works if you have information about the system. When scanning a system yourself, keep a look out for a large number of unknown object contacts at similar distances - this often proves to be a belt cluster. Asteroid belt points of interest can only be scanned at very close range (c.5ls). Asteroids in planetary rings can also be mined from - [[RES]] are common places for NPC miners to congregate in, but pirates will also spawn here.
Mining is possible currently possible at asteroid belts or planetary rings which are not Icy and are not depleted, although it is the most profitible in a Pristine Metallic area. You can fly to asteroids (either clusters or planetary rings) in supercruise, just like any destination within a system. When you have arrived, you will see a number (from a handful to many dozens) of asteroids, which you can then mine. A good starting spot for mining are systems with industrial economies.

Mining Locations change in both quality and quantity which when presented one through five, one being the highest and five being the least are currently;
# Pristine
# Major
# Common
# Low
# Depleted
As stated in GalNet players are currently unable to mine Icy asteroids for resources, leaving the availability to Rocky, Metal Rich, and Metallic asteroids, metallic being the optimal location.
