System Colonisation: Difference between revisions

Move the slot 0 info to the Suspect Issues section, as Frontier hasn't specifically published this information. Note about "leveling up" a commodity market.
Add Mechan's theory on interactions between economies and government type. Mention that ground ports are bugged.

=== Ground Ports ===
Do not build ground ports yet: they don't seem to be affected by economic influences. Orbital ports seem to work, however. (Surface Settlements and Surface Hubs seem to work fine: it's just the four Planetary Port surface installations that never sell more than three commodities.)

==== Economy Interactions ====
[https://www.youtube.com/@Astyrrean Mechan] just released a [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ptbm36DMl9Y video describing how two economies can interact] at one body. Basically, the ''input'' to an economy also matters. Industrial economies consume a lot of metal. If you have a body with Refinery and Industrial economies, much of the output from the Refinery will be consumed by Industry. To get a lot of output from a Refinery, it should be paired with an Extraction economy.
[https://www.youtube.com/@Astyrrean Mechan] has two example markets in the video. [https://inara.cz/elite/station-market/743168/ His station with a Refinery/Industrial market] is in Pleiades Sector IX-T b3-2. It still imports most metals. Commander Matt Sweeny Tony demonstrated [https://inara.cz/elite/station-market/754986/ a station with an Extraction/Refinery market] that produces kilotons of metals. That station is in [https://inara.cz/elite/starsystem-stations/304804/ Col 285 Sector XA-D c13-20]. If you want to see what facilities are upstream of that market, sort the stations by distance and look at the facilities that are 118 Ls from the star. (Apologies if I have "Matt Sweeny Tony" wrong: Mechan said it once, quickly, and the name isn't written in the video's notes.)
There are probably other synergies as well. For instance, an economy that produces chemicals might boost production from Agriculture. Folks will need to test these out to see what economies boost other economies. Folks will also need to test to see which economy pairs don't interact.
If you want to see [https://www.youtube.com/@Astyrrean Mechan]'s rules for building up an economy, seek to 8:25 in that [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ptbm36DMl9Y video].
==== Government Type ====
In that same [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ptbm36DMl9Y video], [https://www.youtube.com/@Astyrrean Mechan] suggests the government type of the faction that controls the port also affects the market: if a government type lists a commodity as illegal, it won't be available in the market.
