Discovering your first Stellar Body type within a region with a Level-two Scan, your first biological Genus (eg. Stratum) with the Composition Scanner, or your first Xenological discovery with the Composition Scanner within a category will award you with a 50,000cr Codex Voucher. Any following scans of a biological Species (eg. Stratum Tectonicas) or Xenological category will grant a 2,500cr Codex Voucher.

Losing your ~~codex vouchers~~ via ship destruction means that you will not retain any discoveries you've made. Because the ~~codex vouchers~~ often take time to appear in your ~~transactions panel~~ due to server lag, forgetful explorers may simply neglect to redeem their vouchers at any station's Administrative Contact.
