| <p data-rte-fromparser="true">Alien Growths have been found on Merope 5 C, a planet within the system that the Unknown Artifacts were pointing at. These growths appear to be erupting from the ground, semi-organic in nature, yielding meta-alloys when broken down to constituent compounds. They were mistakenly termed 'barnacles' by an unknown party at GalNet, a term which absolutely does not apply to these spiked erupta as their resemblance is lacking.

What lies within these clusters of spikes is unknown, speculation as to whether it is some kind of egg, a bio-technology, a disease, or a weapon are purely that, speculative.

Pilots have reported that their vehicles have illustrated module malfunctions spontaneously when around the Alien Growths, which is problematic given that there exists only one kind of vehicle and it is the sole transport offered to date as it indicates that the module errors may be a universal problem.
