Template:Upcoming Materials are raw materials that can be found on the surfaces of planets and moons by use of the wave scanner. The types of these materials will vary depending on the geology of the body, the type of world it is and where it is situated. As well as natural formations of these materials some can be found (and indeed, in some cases, unique to) special sources. Meteorites can be found and blasted to reveal materials. There are also more mysterious sources as well to be found. Materials will not take up space in the ship's cargo.
Synthesis
Materials will eventually be used for the Crafting system, but can also be used to Synthesize various temporary bonuses for a ship or re-filling ammunition. At the launch of Horizons, 6 syntheses will be available:
| Synthesis Type | Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| SRV Ammo Restock | SRV Ammunition restock | +50% Damage Boost | +100% Damage Boost |
| SRV Repair | SRV Hull Repair | +50% Repair Effectiveness | +100% Repair Effectiveness |
| SRV Refuel | SRV Refuel | +50% Shield Overcharge | +100% Shield Overcharge |
| FSD Injection | +25% Jump Range | +50% Jump Range | +100% Jump Range |
| Plasma Munitions | Plasma Accelerator ammo refill | +25% Damage Boost | +50% Damage Boost |
