Multiplayer is handled with a [[Elite: Dangerous FAQ#Is .22Elite: Dangerous.22 an MMO.3F|grouping system]] in ''Elite Dangerous'' and a [http://starcitizenstuff.wordpress.com/tag/pvp-slider/ PVP-PVE slider] which doesn't completely control engagements in ''Star Citizen''. [sentence needs clarification]
'''Lawsuit'''
Star Citizen is embroiled in a major lawsuit with Crytek. On 12 December 2017, Crytek filed a lawsuit against the developers behind Star Citizen (Cloud Imperium Games and Roberts Space Industries). Crytek alleges that they breached the Game License Agreement on multiple points. Such as:<ref name=":2">https://www.polygon.com/2017/12/13/16774244/crytek-star-citizen-cryengine-lawsuit</ref>
1. Developing two games (Star Citizen and Squadron 42) with one license. This lawsuit has the potential to disrupt development of SC. Since both use the same code, that constitutes using the engine twice and represents a further breach of contract.<ref name=":2" />
2. In December 2016, CIG and RSI said they were moving off of CryEngine 3 in favor of Amazon’s Lumberyard product. But Crytek claims CIG and RSI’s own marketing materials, show lines of code on the screen that seem to indicate the games are running partially, on CryEngine 3.<ref name=":2" />
3. The lawsuit says CIG and RSI improperly removed the CryEngine logo when the game boots up, and that the teams failed to properly disclose modifications to CryEngine 3 as part of their licensing agreement.<ref name=":2" />
Crytek is asking for direct damages, indirect damages and a permanent injunction to prevent CIG and RSI “from continuing to possess or use the Copyrighted Work.”<ref name=":2" />
Meanwhile, Elite Dangerous doesn't have any major lawsuit to date.
'''Delays'''
Star Citizen was crowdfunded back in 2012 and initially intended to come out in 2014, but the scope of the game grew and it's still in alpha as of now.
The initial full version of Elite Dangerous (1.0) was released according to plan in December 2014.
'''Accountability'''
People have wondered whether all the crowdfunded money actually went towards Star Citizen, because the developer Crowd Imperium Games' Foundry 42 UK has a loan with the National Westminister Bank PLC (January 2015).<ref>https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/08703814/charges/G09qg6Mo3GrwjGkM3-Z0rwEQjMY</ref> They took another loan from the bank Coutts on 15 June 2017.<ref>https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/08703814/charges/AHMo7d0tVN50wGM-FC6tbyhYlss</ref><ref>https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen_refunds/comments/69i5to/what_do_we_know_about_cigs_loans_or_investments/</ref> There is no accountability for backers to see how their money was spent and whether the crowdfunding data on the Star Citizen website is accurate.
