A targeted conflict zone waypoint in supercruise

Conflict Zone (Signal Source)s are temporary warzones that occur wherever factions are raging civil war against each other. Upon entering from supercruise conflict zones are randomly populated with NPC fighter ships of the warring factions. Conflict zones come in two types — low intensity and high intensity — depending on the size of the ship spawn.

At any time players can join the battle in conflict zones, and temporarily fight for a side of their choice, by setting the preferred faction in-game in the Systems panel under Functions.

GalNet reveals Quivira to be the center of conflict and therefore a potent source for conflict zones

Conflict zones are more difficult to locate than resource extration sites since they disappear once a system settles downs.

A reliable way to locate conflict zones is to check the GalNet news feed at stations for star systems where conflicts are reported to take place. Has such a potential system been made out, a glance at the system map will reveal the exact location of the conflict zone within the system, as any station with War, Civil War, or Civil Unrest as its State is guaranteed to have conflict zones nearby.

It is worth following up on other, nearby star systems for they are bound to be in tumult as well.

Combat and Rewards

A combat mission with a conflict zone (warzone) as target

Between bounties and combat vouchers combat in conflict zones can be a profitable venture.

During times of civil war the various factions hand out combat missions through the bulletin board which call for the destruction of certain opposing targets in conflict zones (referred to in combat missions as Warzones).

For each destroyed ship combat vouchers are rewarded and which, in turn, can be redeemed for credits at any station in the star system.

The following table gives an overview of the expected rewards for redeeming combat vouchers which depend for the most part upon ship type. In general it goes that heavier ships yield higher rewards.

Ship Reward (CR)
Eagle Mk. II 4,000
Empire Fighter 2,000
F63 Condor 2,000
Imperial Clipper 22,000
Cobra Mk. III 8,000
Viper Mk III 10,000
Asp Explorer 14,000
Vulture 18,000
Python 26,000
Anaconda 36,000

Notes

  • Conflict zones show up automatically as locations in the Navigation panel if the player is close enough with the ship.
  • For some reason conflict zones are referred to as Warzones in the in-game descriptions of combat missions.
  • Almost all NPCs spawning in conflict zones are fighters aligned with either of the warring factions.
  • A list of current conflict zones is gathered by the community on the Info Limpet website.
