The former paramilitary organization INRA analyzed Thargoid specimens. The researchers made several discoveries which are published in the Codex:

Thargoid society is organized in vast hives. The larger groups are thought to be overlapping hives.

Queens
Queens
There are 3 categories in society: queens, princesses and drones. The Queens are reproducers. They have extremely long lifespans of hundreds to thousands of years. They are at least as intelligent as a human. The size of their neurocraniums might be an age indicator.

Drones
Drones
The drones have rudimentary intelligence and maintain a favorable environment for the hive. The Queens perceive drones as expendable, because they can be easily replaced. Thus the Queens don't care about losing drones. The drones ~~are sterile and~~ have various shapes and sizes. The drones are crucial, because they dedicate their lives to labour, security and combat to maintain the hive.

Reproduction
The exact methods of Thargoid reproduction are unknown. The queens are believed to be single-sex. It is likely that the queens reproduce sexually with other queens to produce princesses. The princesses only become full queens when they've produced their own drones. They can also reproduce asexually to make drones. The asexual reproduction enables fast population growth. There is evidence that older drones are sometimes culled.
