Advanced stellar body scanner used during Exploration. This will give you info on the composition of a moon, planet, star, etc. And also other data like orbital, distance, time for object to orbit. The range will depend on if you can get the object close enough to see it, i Scanned a moon that I had discovered earlier at 2.5Ls. Then scanned the data on the moon from 7.5Ls. Larger object like star more than 500Ls still finding out.
