The Mining Multi Limpet Controller combines the functions of the Collector Limpet Controller and Prospector Limpet Controller into a single module
The advantage of the Mining Multi Limpet Controller is that it allows ships with fewer Optional module slots to program both Collector and Prospector limpets with just one module. An additional benefit is that the module supports up to four active limpets at once, whereas the regular Collector and Prospector Limpet Controllers only support two. The Mining Multi Limpet Controller thus allows up to four Collector or Prospector limpets to be active at any time, which can be useful for collecting items or searching the mineral content of asteroids more quickly. Furthermore, the 3C Mining Multi Limpet Controller has a comparable power draw and mass to both the 3C Collector Limpet Controller and 3C Prospector Limpet Controller, consuming only slightly more power than either dedicated module while being able to program both limpet types, while weighing just as much as both dedicated controllers combined.
The drawbacks of the Mining Multi Limpet Controller are its slightly increased cost versus the combined cost of a Collector Limpet Controller and Prospector Limpet Controller of the same class and rating, the higher mass of the 3E Mining Multi Limpet Controller versus the combined mass of the 3E Collector Limpet Controller and 3E Prospector Limpet Controller, and the module being only available in Classes 3E and 3C. The restricted rating availability of the Mining Multi Limpet Controller is particularly egregious with regards to Prospector limpets as an A-rated Prospector limpet will yield more materials from asteroids, while the requirement of a Class 3 slot prevents the Mining Multi Limpet Controller from being equipped on any ships that do not have a Class 3 or larger optional internal compartment. The limpets programmed using the Mining Multi Limpet Controller also have slightly worse active ranges versus limpets programmed from dedicated Limpet Controllers of the same Class and rating.
