Heat sinks can be used to temporarily cool the ship by taking all the heat from the ship and then throwing
Heat sinks are most commonly used in connection with [[Silent Running]] or with larger ships dumping excess heat when making multiple hyperspace jumps. With release of the Horizons-Update, heat sink launchers also became important to prevent overheating due to the use of shield cell banks.
