They can be sampled with the Genetic Sampler and scanned with the Short Range Composition Scanner. They appear to grow on certain types of Fumaroles. They have a clonal colony range of 100m.

Fumerola derives its name from fumaroles (vents). They appear on top of rocks in small patches of flat terrain.^[1]

There are four known shapes of Fumerola:
