Unlike Community Goals, Interstellar Initiatives do not rely on a week-long drive to collect bounties or specific resources. The first Interstellar Initiative, "Bridging the Gap", began on April 29, 3305 with a poll. The minor faction Zende Partners of the Zende System announced plans to construct a weekly ferry [[Megaship]] between the [[Core Systems]] and one of five systems in [[Guardian]] space, and pilots were invited to vote on their desired candidate system. The selected system would also gain a permanent [[outpost]].
Interstellar Initiatives consist of multiple week-long phases, with each phase presenting an activity, such as a poll or Community Goal, that advances the overall narrative and can offer different rewards. The outcome of each phase can change the direction of the narrative.

Interstellar Initiatives are an upgraded form of Community Goals. They feature a series of in-game events that play out over the course of a month with multiple phases and an evolving narrative. Some Interstellar Initiatives will have a lasting effect on the galaxy, and can add a new module or Synthesis recipe, affect the infrastructure of a system, or even alter the balance of power between the superpowers.[1]

Overview

Interstellar Initiatives consist of multiple week-long phases, with each phase presenting an activity, such as a poll or Community Goal, that advances the overall narrative and can offer different rewards. The outcome of each phase can change the direction of the narrative.

As an example, the first Interstellar Initiative, "Bridging the Gap", ran from April 29, 3305 to May 30, 3305, and featured four phases.

  • Phase One: Commencement[2]
  • Phase Two: Guardian Commodities Community Goal[4]
  • Phase Three: Conflict Community Goal[4][5]
    • May 23, 3305 - May 30, 3305
    • Segnen Exchange constructed another outpost, Indigo Dock, in Synuefe EN-H d11-96.
    • Zende Partners and Segnen Exchange went to war over control of Synuefe EN-H d11-96 and the ferry service. Each side offered a unique weapon module as an incentive for supporting it: the Advanced Missile Rack for Segnen Exchange, and the Advanced Multi-cannon for Zende Partners. Both modules use normal ammunition by default, but AX ammo can be synthesized for them on the fly. The winner of the conflict will begin manufacturing their module for sale across the galaxy and retain or gain control of the ferry service.
  • Phase Four: Conclusion[4]
    • May 30, 3305
    • The winner of the conflict begins manufacturing their AX module. Also, if Segnen Exchange is the winner, the ferry will move from Zende to Segnen.

Notes

  • Interstellar Initiatives were added with the April Update on April 23, 2019.
