</ref>) from their current ship regardless of where the bounty/fine was gained. Additionally, Interstellar Factors allows the player to claim bounty vouchers and combat bonds in much the same way. Both of these suffer from a fixed increase (for fines and bounties) or decrease (for claiming bounty vouchers and combat bonds) of about 25% in price, making it less profitable to earn money from bounty hunting or mercenary work in a different system from where that work was done, and more expensive to pay off fines from a system you are not currently in, however it makes it more convenient to claim or pay off large amounts of fines, bounties, and combat bonds from different systems.

Tip to find an Interstellar Factor
Note that clearing bounties and fines will not clear them from all player ships that have outstanding fines or bounties, only the ship the player is currently in. Bounties and fines prevent the player from accessing all station services excluding missions currently in progress, interstellar factors, security contacts, and the black market.
Interstellar factors only appear in systems with a low security rating. To find them, open the galaxy map. Be sure that your galaxy map view configuration is set as "map" and NOT "realistic." These filters will not appear if you use realistic mode. Now set the filter to "Security" and only keep "Low" security. Then move the minimal population counter up a bit to remove stars that do not have a starport. The remaining systems should have an Interstellar Factor.

Alternative method:
Finding Stations with Interstellar Factors
Interstellar factors contacts will appear most often in low security or anarchy systems, however stations with interstellar factors have been found in medium security and anarchy systems. To find systems with Interstellar Factors Contacts in game, open the galaxy map and set it to map mode. Then, select 'services' from the drop-down menu and tick 'Interstellar Factors'. Systems with stations that have an interstellar factors contact will now show up as a green dot.

In the Galaxy Map, under Map View Configuration, set view to Map (not Realistic or Powerplay), choose Services from the dropdown, then check "Interstellar Factors", and you can then see all the systems with Interstellar Factors marked with a green spot.
External tools such as EDSM's station search feature can also be used to find stations with Interstellar factors by selecting Interstellar Factors Contact under facilities.

Factors currently allow;
* Any standing Bounty Vouchers you have earned can be redeemed at an Interstellar Factor, albeit the Factor will take a ~25% 'cut' of the total. For example; you are holding a voucher nominally worth 100,000 credits, but redeeming it would require a significant detour that you do not wish to take. You can instead redeem it at a more conveniently-located Factor for 75,000 credits.
* Bounties can be cleared by Interstellar Factors when your Notoriety is 0<ref name=":0">Crime and Punishment in Beyond Chapter One

These are upcoming changes with Elite Dangerous: Beyond.
* Claimed bounties for the jurisdiction you died in must be paid when you re-spawn at detention centers. These changes aim to simplify crimes. You will now have more control over your criminal status risk and reward. You can store a ship with bounties on (a hot ship), hiding your criminality, but at the cost of not using the ship. Bounties are now more significant as you must use Interstellar Factors to clear them, which can be expensive.
* Any Notoriety means the interstellar factors cannot clear your fines or bounties.
* Hot ships can be cleaned using Interstellar Factors, at a cost.
* Fines prevent access to all services except missions in progress, security contact, Interstellar Factors and black markets.
* Bounties prevent access to all services except missions in progress, Interstellar Factors and black markets.
