The Orca design was inspired from the movie flipper (1996). Rumors are that Paul Hogan and Elijah Wood worked hand in hand with Frontier development team to bring the best looking ship to the Elite Dangerous universe. Executive producer Michael Brookes said in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes : ''"We worked really hard with the actors, director Alan Shapiro and Universal Pictures to make the best looking ship"''

In the current game (v.2.02) you can hear flipper noises and Sandy Ricks talking to his uncle Porter Ricks when looking on the dashboard.
