Align article assessment banner with WikiProject conventions; preserve all quality and project records
Line 1:
Place this banner at the top of an article's '''discussion page''', preserving existing discussion. Edit the existing banner rather than adding another one.

{{Article assessment|class=|notes=}}

Leave the class empty for Unassessed. AcceptedThe ratingsseven local classes are Stub, Start, C, B, Good, Featured and FeaturedUnassessed, ignoring case. An unsupported class displays Invalid and does not store a quality rating. See [[Project:Article assessment|assessment criteria and review instructions]]. The bot does not award ratings.

==Parameters==
Example:
<nowiki>{{Article assessment|class=B|notes=Coverage is substantial; engineering references need checking.}}</nowiki>
▼
*
class
: the existing local quality assessment, shared by the site-wide and enabled project records.
*
notes
: review notes and remaining work, displayed separately below project scope.
*
ships
,
stations
,
systems
,
planets
,
engineers
,
equipment
,
materials
,
factions
and
gameplay
: only
yes
enables each subject flag, ignoring case. Several may be combined. They record article subjects, not editor membership. Preserve the existing class when adding a flag. See [[Project:WikiProjects]].

The banner records assessments in [[Special:PageAssessments]] and adds categories only in the article discussion namespace (Talk, namespace 1). Other namespaces display the banner without those storage or category effects. There is no
category
suppression parameter. This presentation introduces no importance values or changes to assessment rules.
See [[Project:Article assessment]] for the criteria and review process. The banner stores the subject article's rating in [[Special:PageAssessments]], under project '''Elite Dangerous Wiki'''. Do not add a second banner if one already exists. Ratings belong on discussion pages, not article pages. The bot does not award ratings.

==Examples==
== WikiProject membership ==
These examples render on this documentation subpage, outside the Talk namespace, so they do not store assessments or add assessment categories. Do not copy the example transclusions onto a Talk page just to preview them.
Use the subject flags listed at [[Project:WikiProjects]] in the same banner. Only yes enrols the article. Several flags may be combined. Subject records share its class; the general assessment remains.

==Presentation==
The compact quality header shows the site-wide rating once. Enabled WikiProjects have separate scope rows and local project links. Review notes remain visible without a fixed height or scrolling panel. [[Template:Article assessment/styles.css|Scoped styles]] provide light, dark and narrow-screen layouts. The template-page preview and these examples do not alter any article's rating.
