The [[Scarab]], [[Scorpion]] and [[ScorpionRhino]] can be used for basic planetary mining. By using the [[Wave Scanner]] you can locate materials. The turret can blow off chunks which are collectable by driving over it with the SRV's [[Cargo Scoop|cargo scoop]].
 
You should look for chunks around signs of volcanism such as [[Gas Vent|gas vents]]. These usually have a chunk on them that you can shoot off to collect it. The cargo capacity of the Scarab is only 4 tonnes, the Scorpion 30 tonnes, while the [[Rhino]] has 72 tonnes.<ref name=":2" />
