The '''Burst Laser''' is an energy weapon that emits a burst of three laser blasts with each shot. Burst Lasers can inflict more damage per shot than a [[Pulse Laser]] provided that each blast hits its target, but somewhat less than a [[Beam Laser]].


The Burst laser is an energy weapon that's mounted on one of your ship's hardpoints and needs to be assigned to a fire group before it can be used. When fired it emits three laser blasts in each burst, much like a burst fire assault rifle compared to a semi-automatic rifle. Burst lasers do much more damage in a single burst than a [[Pulse_Laser|pulse laser]] does in a single shot. Burst Lasers require more power to use and generate more heat than a [[Pulse_Laser|pulse laser]].
==Usage==
The Burst Laser inflicts thermal damage, making it very effective against shields and less effective against armour. Although its [[Armour Hardness|Armour piercing]] capability is low, it is slightly higher than that of [[Beam Laser]]s. Burst Lasers require more power to use and generate more heat than a [[Pulse Laser]], but not as much as a Beam Laser. The weapon's range is 3000m but [[Damage Falloff]] begins at 500m.
