HIP 22460: Difference between revisions

After the failure of [[Salvation]]'s [[Anti-xeno superweapon|Proteus Wave]] in August 9, 3308, the [[Thargoid|Thargoids]] destroyed most human presence in the system. Pilots that traveled to HIP 22460 were advised to exercise extreme caution, as the Thargoids would attack on sight and in large numbers.  In addition, a lingering energy field existed in HIP 22460 that would damage and disable Hybrid modules.  The damage would also negate the effects of Auto Field-Maintenance Units.  While normal human derived modules were not effected, the constant damage and disabling of Hybrid modules from simply being in the system meant that any combat with the Thargoids was not only ill-advised, but should be avoided at all costs.  Explorers were advised to avoid contact and make heavy use of [[Silent Running]] whenever possible to avoid Thargoid detection, as all Thargoids were instantly hostile, regardless if the pilots possessed [[Guardian]], Hybrid, or Thargoid items or technology in their ships.

At the end of the [[Second Thargoid War]], after the destruction of Titan Cocijo above Earth in December 3310, HIP 22460 was the last remaining area of aggressive Thargoid presence in Human dominated space. Determined to eliminate this last vestige of the invasion, two player groups decided to blockade the system and attack all hostile Thargoids in an effort to reclaim the system for humanity. On 12 January 3311, approximately 1500 pilots descended on the system to join in what may be the largest community-driven combat event in the history of Elite Dangerous. AXI and XSF pilots from around the globe coordinated to host geographically regional instances to place as many participating players within the same instance as possible. The official event ended after roughly 4 hours, but many commanders stayed in the system for far longer to clear out as many Thargoids as they could. Thanks to the efforts of everyone involved in the blockade, the system was declared to be free of all Thargoid presence and the Anti-Guardian Field that prevented the use of Guardian technology in the system was also eliminated.<ref>“[https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/16-JAN-3311 HIP 22460 Declared Free of Thargoids]” - Galnet News - 16 January 3311</ref> In the end, it was a grassroots effort by the players themselves that finally reversed the effects within the system of the failed firing of the Proteus Wave device by Salvation in August 3308.
