This template is used to tag pages for speedy deletion under the [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion|speedy deletion criteria]], specifically [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#U1|CSD U1]]. There is a separate template for each criterion – see the table to the right.

This template places the page into the categories: [[:Category:Candidates for speedy deletion|Candidates for speedy deletion]], and [[:Category:Candidates for speedy deletion by user|Candidates for speedy deletion by user]].

== Usage ==
The template should be placed at the top of the page to be deleted.

===Parameters===

:This is the most basic form of the template.

:[[WP:BOT|Bot accounts]] will specify the {{para|bot}} parameter to notify the reviewing admin that the page was tagged by an automated process.

:Where ''Diff#'' is a [[Help:Diff|diff]] showing where the user requested deletion. This is obviously not required if the user places the template, or if the deletion request is on the listed page.

:The "rationale" parameter allows specifying an additional explanation for the request.

===CSS and Javascript pages===
To request the deletion of a [[CSS]] or [[JavaScript]] page – a page in User: space whose name ends with '''.css''' or '''.js''' – use the following format: <syntaxhighlight lang=javascript>/* {{db-u1}} */</syntaxhighlight> The deletion message will not be displayed, but the page will be categorised into {{cl|Candidates for speedy deletion by user}}, where an administrator will be able to find it.

===JSON pages===
To request the deletion of a [[JSON]] page – a page in User: space whose name ends with '''.json''' – place the template on the corresponding Talk page instead, along with an explanation of which page to delete.
