From what I've seen others say and my own personal experience I don't think I'd go for the Python, it's just a big viper basically, you don't turn that fast, and like you said, smaller ships love to pick on you so you have to rely on getting them down fast. It does have a lot of firepower but, well there is a reason it's listed as "Multipurpose" and not "Fighter"
