New page

This is super informative. I oftem wonder why the F*** the devs even created a cargo hatch. since it is 99% useless and sucks up .6 MW. With it enabled, you have the ablility to pick up floating cargo, which is usually illegal (don't ask me why grabbing a criminal's bundle of copper is illegal, it's a perfectly legal substance that used to belong to a criminal) but also leaves you wide open to getting your cargobay jacked by a pirate via hatchbreaker limpets. There is no point to powering it, as when you disable the power to it, it mechanically locks, leaving the only way for a pirate to get your stuff is to manually blast it open, which by that point you're pretty much dead anyway, since limpets don't work on a powered down hatch. This could be a bug, and might be fixed or adjusted so far as to have your cargo possibly fall out if you don't power the hatch
