The Kraits can also have far better shields because, unlike nearly all the "dedicated combat" ships (Mamba, FDL, Vulture, etc) the Kraits have power for days. I know nobody bothers with shield tanks, but a Krait with a class 6 shield, multiple shield cell banks, and lightweight armor (for even more manuverability) is just as effective in combat as any hull tank, if not more so.

Plus if you use multicannons you can wasily go 4/1/1 on your pips and leave the shield at full strength 100% of the time without borking your weapons capacitor. I have 2 incendiaty MCs and 2 rails and routinely stay at 4/1/1 for 2+ hours in highres without ever needing to change them and ever dropping shields at all. I'd go longer but I have to rearm eventually.
