Best place how to gain ranks is Home system Eotienses <> Saptunik <> Mahei, because in Saptunik and Mahei just only one space port, this is why you can really fast do progress, you took missions from Eitionses (i am visiting only Kaumans port and Parkinson dock, you always can take 3-6 easy mission(boom data delivery, courier job) and then you visit next system and continue in circle.

Level up you rank cost you 1-3 hours.(depend on your ship and missions)
