I´m still trying to figure out how the different scanners can be combined.

At the moment it seams that there are the 3 mentioned "Discovery"-scanners Basic/Intermediate/Advanced.

And there´s the "Detailed Surface Scanner" whicht does NOT belong to this group and is something completely different.You will have to use an extra internal compartment to fit this one. Also you will not have to assign this one to a firegroup, since it starts scanning on its own, as soon as you are close enough to the object (suns from far away, planets from closer, moons from within under 10Ls)

In Beta 2.04 I bought a DetailedSurfaceScanner and sold the BasicDiscoveryScanner for it, which is a failure. You need both side by side.
