Class 4 cannon is pretty niche imo. It's not that it isn't a good weapon - it is - it's just that the alternatives are better. It's outpaced for consistent damage by the class 4 multicannon, beaten at shield popping by the class 4 lasers, and is seriously out-DPS'd by the class 4 plasma cannons. There's probably some niche out there it excels in, but I haven't found it yet... maybe kiting from long range...
