I've never done any actual mission for the Imperial Navy or any Imperial faction. As a trader I've traveled to and bought goods at a few Imperial stations, but never taken any missions. I have never, to my knowledge, even opened the bulletin board at the few Imperial stations I've traded at, and yet here I am with a permit for Achenar.

I've gone there for giggles to test the glitch theory and it actually works, it is a legitimate functioning permit. I've had no problems jumping into the system and docking at almost every starport and outpost there.

What you say makes perfect sense. Want ranking with the Federation? Get to work in Federation space and do missions for the navy. Want ranking with the Empire? Get to work in Imperial controlled space and do missions for ''their'' navy. I understand and am in total agreement with you about how this works. However, I am still puzzled as to how I got this permit.

I'm beginning to wonder, could this have any relation to the recent public event where travel to Achenar was opened to all? I wonder if everyone was given a temporary permit which was revoked after the event ended and it just stuck around for me. No idea how THAT would work.

Has anyone else gotten permits for no reason?
