{{For|the navigation template|Template:Google LLC}}
==Usage==

Creates a Google search link for the supplied term. By default, the search link is for the name of the page it is put on, if no term is provided. It is strongly recommended (but not required) that you [[Wikipedia:Template substitution|SUBST:]] this template.

=== Do not use in articles ===
{{Warning|Do not use this template in [[WP:WIAA|articles]] (as Google search links [[WP:EL#Links normally to be avoided|are not appropriate in articles]]). The template is only for [[Help:Talk page|talk pages]] and other process pages ([[WP:HD|Help desk]], [[WP:PROJ|WikiProjects]], etc.). The template will produce an error if you attempt to use it in an article.}}

==Verbatim searches==
To link to a Google "verbatim" search (which keeps Google from guessing alternate spellings), add the named argument '''verbatim''' with any value other than whitespace.

==Examples==

{| class="wikitable"
! width=320px | Type this !! width=130px | To get this !! What it searches for
|-
| {{mono|<nowiki>{{subst:google}}</nowiki>}} || {{google}} || Pages with the phrase "Google", because the name of this page that you are reading is "Template:''Google''"
|-
| {{mono|<nowiki>{{subst:google|Godzilla}}</nowiki>}} || {{google|Godzilla}} || Pages with the term "Godzilla".
|-
| {{mono|<nowiki>{{subst:google|Godzilla Rodan}}</nowiki>}} || {{google|Godzilla Rodan}} || Pages which contain "Godzilla" and "Rodan".
|-
| {{mono|<nowiki>{{subst:google|Godzilla Rodan|verbatim=1}}</nowiki>}} || {{google|Godzilla Rodan}} || Pages which contain "Godzilla" and "Rodan", and excluding pages that Google might otherwise think you were interested in because they contain "Roman" instead of "Rodan".
|-
| {{mono|<nowiki>{{subst:google|"Godzilla Movie"}}</nowiki>}} || {{google|"Godzilla Movie"}} || Pages with the phrase "Godzilla Movie".
|-
| {{mono|<nowiki>{{google|1 pound in kilograms {{=}}}}</nowiki>}} || {{google|1 pound in kilograms {{=}}}} || Use [[Template:=]] to add an [[=]] sign to trigger Google Calculator when necessary; that template cannot be substituted.
|-
| {{mono|<nowiki>{{google|1 pound in kilograms}}</nowiki>}} || {{google|1 pound in kilograms}} || Google may display Calculator results for some expressions even if they lack a trailing equals sign.
|}

===Site-specific search===

You can use the <code>site:</code> parameter to search on a specific [[Web site]]. You may prefer {{Tl|Google custom}} or {{Tl|Google Wikipedia}} because they yield a cleaner search form, without the <code>site:</code> parameter cluttering the input field.

{| class="wikitable"
! width=350px | Type this !! width=130px | To get this !! What it searches for
|-
| {{mono|<nowiki>{{google|site:en.wikipedia.org}}</nowiki>}} || {{google|site:en.wikipedia.org}} || Search the [[English Wikipedia]] with the standard Google search form
|-
| {{mono|<nowiki>{{google custom|en.wikipedia.org||Search Wikipedia}}</nowiki>}} || {{google custom|en.wikipedia.org||Search Wikipedia}} || Blank form to search the [[English Wikipedia]]
|-
| {{mono|<nowiki>{{google Wikipedia||}}</nowiki>}} || {{google Wikipedia||}} || Blank form to search the [[English Wikipedia]]
|}
