All a CMDR has to understand is, in combat, it's a big ship's firepower in a medium ship's frame with a little ship's ability to stay out of reach and keep hitting you. If I see one, I treat it like a big ship and give it the respect it deserves - either avoid it or concentrate everything I have on it. If it's flown by a player I'll think twice even if I'm in a 'conda.
This thing will easily stay out of the fire arc of slower ships, hits like a ton of bricks and has a shield that can easily take anything from other nimble ships or the few times you'll be able to hit it in a bigger one. It can't take the heat once its shield is popped, but that's small comfort.
