Your jump range depends on your ship's overall mass.
To get the longest jump range, you basically need to:
-) Nothing on external hardpoints (no guns, no heatsinks, etc.)
-) A 6A Frame Shift Drive
-) Everything else the bare minimum of D-Rank internals
-) No Shields
-) Only 8 tons of fuel
-) No cargo
With that you will get to 40 LYs.
But honestly, 32LY is freakin' far, considering its size. We are talking about a hulking giant that just barely fits through the mail slot. 32LY is more than enough. Even for exploring (when exploring, keep your shields and guns, just in case)
