The '''Type-7 Transporter''' is a large freighter produced by [[Lakon Spaceways]]. A dedicated trading vessel, the Type-7 occupies a niche between the smaller [[Type-6 Transporter]] and the larger [[Type-9 Heavy]] in terms of overall cargo capacity. Although its cargo capacity is unimpressive compared to other large ships, such as the [[Type-9 Heavy]], the Type-7's appeal lies in its relatively low purchase cost for its size and its moderate jump range, making it a highly-accessible option for trading.

==Overview==
The Type-7 is a bulky trader and is the next step for a trader, up from the [[Type-6]]. It features far better cargo capacity and nearly thrice the amount. Due to the Type-7 requiring a large [[Landing Pad]], it cannot dock at [[Outpost]]s, which somewhat limits its utility compared to medium ships with smaller cargo capacities such as the [[Python]]. However it is much less expensive and is still able to carry more cargo. Additionally the T7 is the cheapest and smallest large ship in the game.

Repair costs on the Type-7 are low which makes trading without shields a reasonable strategy if you can avoid combat along the way; however, this can be rather risky as the low manoeuvrabillity makes the T7 inderdiction vulnerable meaning it is not always guaranteed to evade. However an upside is that the T7's rather ludicrous pitch and yaw speed combined with decent base speed lets it get away and Hyperjump out of combat. Keep in mind the T7's Mass Lock facotr is a measly 10; by far the lowest of any large ship and smaller than most medium ships.

In combat the T7, unlike the [[Hauler]] and [[Type-6]], is somewhat viable. With turreted mounts, its decent shields and hull as well as 4 hardpoints; which puts it damage on par with the [[Adder]], it can pump out some damage and can do a decent jump of keeping Gimballed and Fixed mounts on their targets, and can at the very least make pirates operate with caution. While a dedicated combat T7 is very ill-advised, it is still capable of combat unlike its predecessors and is a good way of collecting bounties along with cargo until the Python or Type-9 become available, as both are very capable of combat and trade at the same time.

The Type-7 recently had its jump range buffed and is now a viable exploration ship. With ranges around 30LY the ship is very capable of jump long range and can be very good at long range deliveres or [[Rare Goods]] trading.

The Type-7 is a viable [[miner]] as it has enough hardpoints to mine effectivly and more than enough compartment and cargo space to hold minerals and ores. It will be virtually incapable at defending itself however so in this situation a [[Keelback]] may be more useful.

Overall the T-7 is a dedicated trader just like the T6 though has some other merits worth metioning. It is a good stepping stone towards the end-game trader the Type-9 and has a reasonble price tag for its uses.

The weapon hardpoints are located as follows: Two forward mounted Class 1 small hardpoints next to the cockpit (one on each side, visible from cockpit), One underside mounted Class 1 small hardpoint located amidships and off-center to the right, and One top mounted Class 1 small hardpoint located amidships. The top and bottom hardpoints have a full hemisphere of clear lines of fire making them good places for turrets, while the two front mounted hardpoints are mostly suited for fixed and gimballed weapons. A word of caution in the Type 7 is to keep in mind the cockpit is at the bottom front of the ship with a large area of the ship directly above the pilot. It is very common for pilots to crash the T-7 into the mailslot due to this.

Note: As of v1.4.01 it is possible to overheat and do module damage to a stock T-7 if the frame-shift drive is charged for a jump to supercruise or hyperspace but not throttled up/aligned for a jump. It is a good idea to carry [[Heatsink Launcher|Heatsinks]] in the T7

* The Type-7 Transporter has the same yaw and pitch speeds, which means it can turn side-to-side just as fast as it can adjust up and down on the nose. This offsets the low manoeuvrability rating when it comes to docking manually. Additionally, the Type-7 has the highest base yaw speed of any jump capable ship.
* The Type-7 is tied with the [[Diamondback Scout]] for the lowest amount of [[Livery]] options available (excluding the [[Cobra MkIV]]), with only three paint packs each and no ship kits.
* The Type-7 is the only large ship incapable of [[Multicrew]].

The '''Python''' is a heavily armed and well-protected craft, being quite manoeuverable (considering its hulking size) and potentially useful in a variety of roles.

It is considered by some to be the most effective balance between firepower, manoeuvrability, and protection currently available. In addition to being capable of holding its own against the larger [[Anaconda]] in a toe-to-toe frontal battle through its substantial protection and firepower, the Python''' '''is generally agile enough to comfortably deal with smaller fighter classes without having to rely on turret mounts.

The Python can also serve as a heavily armed freighter in that it can carry 284 T of cargo with a class 3 [[shield]] module fitted, or 292 T with no shield fitted. Additionally, the Python can dock at [[Outpost]]s since it utilizes medium sized landing pads. However, the downside to trading with a Python is its short jump range when fully loaded.

The weapon hard points are located as follows: two large hardpoints located either side of the ships spine around the midship, and two medium points located slightly behind the cockpit. The final large hardpoint is located on the underside of the nose section. The nose mounted hardpoint has good vertical field of fire when gimballed or turreted (considering its location) which gives the Python a good field of fire where all weapon hardpoints can track and hit a target (when gimballed or turreted).

The pilot's station is offset to the left of centerline and is parallel to the auxiliary station which is offset to the right.

The Python has an available 16 piece cosmetic ship kit that can be purchased from the [https://www.frontierstore.net/usd/game-extras/elite-dangerous-game-extras/python-ship-kit-16-pieces.html Frontier store] which allows you to "remodel your ship in your personal style". The ship kit does not affect gameplay.

A '''Kill Warrant Scanner''' is mounted on the utility mount of your ship and needs to be assigned to a fire group, just like a weapon. It can be used to scan a targeted ship for bounties gained from other jurisdictions. This means for targets who already have a bounty, this bounty might increase. Other targets who show as having a clean status may gain a bounty after being scanned. For others there will be no change if they have committed no crime(s).

Be warned - using this scanner is usually considered to be suspicious behaviour (the scan target will often times attempt to manoeuvre away from you)! The target is always alerted when you initiate a scan on their ship.

==Usage==
You need to be within range (depends on scanner quality) of your target to activate the scanner. Holding the fire button down will initiate a scan and the button must be kept pressed until the scan completes. You also have to stay in range of your target, or the scan will be interrupted. A lot of the time when a target knows they are being scanned they try to get away, especially if they're guilty. Always be prepared for a hot chase with the scanner activated!

Note: the Target panel only shows the Clean/Wanted status in the current system - any extra bounties are visible only in the Contact tab. Furthermore, attacking a ship that is not Wanted in the current system is illegal in policed systems. When hunting in anarchy systems a Kill Warrant Scanner is required, as all targets will come up as Clean in the local system and you won't get any bounty unless you scan them first.

Note: If the target is currently discharging chaff from a [[Chaff Launcher]] a scan will not begin until the chaff effect wears off. If the target deploys chaff after a scan has started but before the scan has completed, the scan will not make any progress and will lose progress as if line of sight to the target has been broken. Chaff has no effect on a scan that has already been completed.
