Anyone else having serious problems actually interdicting anyone? I'm flying a FGS with a class 4B interdictor and no matter what, if I keep the target dead ahead I cannot pull them out.

I used to easily win FSD interdictions, now I have to resort to waiting for Federal Agents to go for me then just submit and get them, which takes hours longer.

This ship is quite popular with [[pirate]]s, [[trader]]s, and some [[explorer]]s. It is a reasonable pirate ship due to the large cargo capacity and heavy armament. Traders may find this ship appealing due to its superb cargo capacity and defensive capability; while it is more expensive than the [[Lakon Type-7]] it can easily defend itself against a pirate.

Pilots of any [[profession]] may appreciate its speed; no other ship released can exceed the boost speed of an Imperial Clipper with fully upgraded [[Thrusters]]. Additionally, its pitch rotation speed is higher than most ships, making it feel like a very hefty, weighted-down [[Eagle]] with a boost speed that almost reaches that of the [[Cobra]]. As an added benefit, flying at high speed has less effect on its pitch rotation speed than comparable ships, making it a very manoeuvrable ship at high speed. Its only manoeuvring drawback, and likely the reason for its low overall agility rating, is its poor yaw capability; the vertical-lateral thrusters are very weak compared to those of other ships. This weakness, combined with very weak [[shield]]s for its size and wing-mounted [[hardpoint]]s ill-suited for fixed weapons, limits the Imperial Clipper's efficiency as a [[combat]] ship even if the shields are upgraded to maximum.

Speed and manoeuvrability fall off more heavily when heavily loaded than other ships, bringing it back into more normal speeds and turn rates when hauling cargo.

Both the ships interior and exterior are luxurious in design, the engines sport a radically different sound than other ships, and the large cockpit canopy features an unobstructed view of space making the Imperial Clipper very popular among explorers.

It's a fighter - it's meant to be fast. Without boost this thing is outrun by almost everything. That makes absolutely no sense. I do agree with all you say - I just dislike the glaring *mistakes* they are making with ship development. A slow fighter is not much good against faster prey if they can just run away from it. If your premise that it isn't faster as that would be unbalanced is true (quite likely that it is) it just goes further to my point that they are getting ship development wrong (I only implied the point but you evidently understood )

Just making sure I've got this straight - this ship is slower, has way less internals, less armor, lower shields, fewer weapons but costs basically the same as an imperial clipper. The only thing it has is (admittedly fantastic) maneuverability. So you're paying about 17 mil over the odds for that. How is it so maneuverable and so damn slow anyway?

You're missing my point. I'm not saying that it's a bad ship - I'm saying that it doesn't follow the same rules as the other ships. A medium ship shouldn't be able to have what the python does ie huge cargo and lots of weapons. I'm not botching about its performance at all. You have completely misread what I'm saying. As far as nerfing the python goes - it deserves the manoeuvrability nerf because it is overpowered enough anyway.

I have just purchased my python and my first impression is that it is completely wrong. It really makes no sense. Every ship that came before it was pretty much well thought out. Small ships are cheap but have little space, freighters are big but poorly armed etc. Then this ship comes along and uses completely different rules to all the others. It's a medium ship that holds more cargo than a large freighter and has more weapon and equipment points than the much larger clipper. It's absolutely crazy. And the downside to breaking the rules that the other ships in the game must live by? It's stated manoeuvrability is way way higher than its actual manoeuvrability, it's expensive (obviously, it's slow and it uses 4 times as much fuel as anything else I've flown. I'm using it as a cargo ship and so haven't fitted decent thrusters and it's manoeuvrability is 1 and speed about 3 on the 0 to 10 scale. I actually feel like a cheat flying this and will trade it in once the new ships are released.

I am a truly awful dogfighter but I can kill anything up to python with this so goodness only knows what the guy who says you can't hit anything with it is going on about. I don't have chaff, shield banks or any other defensive tech apart from a class 4 shield. With those items (and if I was a better fighter pilot) then no ship in the game would be safe from this. Yes, it's expensive and so are repairs. The game is designed that way. Fighter ships cost more to repair than pure freighters and expensive ships cost more to repair than cheap ships.

Within 5 hours you'll be offered enough missions to rank to baron. Try Jeterait (might be jeteriat) faust 68 area. Faust 68 has a nice bonus of having very good kit for the new ship ;)

I have just purchased one of these and I am so glad that I did. It's the most beautiful ship to fly and look at. You need 40 mil credits AT LEAST to appreciate this ship as you'd likely be put off if you flew the 22 mil stock version. It trades better than a type 7 and fights better than an asp (mostly). Did I mention that it's also beautiful?
