The Cutter features 4 medium [[hardpoint]]s: 2 on the nacelles and 2 on the belly; 2 large hardpoints on top of the ship and 1 huge hardpoint on the chin. Notably, the exterior lights on the ship change color from blue to red once hardpoints are deployed.

[[Frontier Developments]] also confirmed it will have bad manoeuvrability and a high top speed. It is the largest player piloted ship as of 1.5 Beta 3.

With its 792T cargo capacity it has the largest cargo bay a playable ship can have, topping the Type-9 with 260T more cargo space, over 48% more space, while having significantly better shields and speed than the Type-9. This will make it the most logical choice for traders.

Unlike the Type-9, it is extremely well-shielded, very fast (though not maneuverable) for its size, and reasonably well-armed, giving it far greater survivability and allowing some limited use of it as a combat ship, especially in the piracy role. In addition, with plenty of internals available to mount mining accessories while still leaving the largest open for cargo holds, excellent speed for moving from asteroid to asteroid, and a sufficiency of class 2 weapon mounts, the Cutter is unquestionably the best mining ship yet.

The '''{{PAGENAME}},''' previously known as "Freighter 3", is a large and moderately armed freighter. It is one of three freighters produced by [[Lakon Spaceways]], the others being the smaller [[Type-6 Transporter]] and the larger [[Type-9 Heavy]]. While it has the potential to defend itself from small ships, the Type-7 is not designed for combat and thus it is recommended to anyone flying this ship that they should avoid combat whenever possible.

Unfortunately due to this ship requiring a large [[Landing Pad]], the Type-7 cannot dock at [[Outpost]]s. For any traders who plan to dock at an outpost it is recommended that they opt to fly the Type-6 Transporter instead as it is the biggest freighter that can dock at outposts.

Repair costs on the Type-7 is low which makes trading without shields a reasonable strategy if you can avoid combat along the way.

The '''{{PAGENAME}}''' is a heavy freighter and is one of three freighters manufactured by [[Lakon Spaceways]]. Currently it has the largest cargo capacity of any ship available making it the ideal trading and hauling vessel. As a result of this it suffers from poor manoeuvrability and can have difficulty in shaking smaller [[ships]] from its blind spot. Although with five weapon [[hardpoint]]s the {{PAGENAME}} is not without defences and can equip heavy armaments.

It first appeared in the development diary videos and in some of the live streams done by [[Frontier Developments|Frontier]]. Later it appeared in the early Alpha stages and is one of the four ships that was in the first release of the Premium Beta.

The ship itself is often seen as a freighter, although it can be a potent threat if equipped with the right weapons. It can, with good aim and piloting take down a Sidewinder in one pass. Yet, the primary role of this ship is to be a [[trader]] as it is incredibly slow and lumbering. Also note that pilots have problems fitting through the entrance of [[Station]]s and can therefore be very expensive to fly (due to crashes) if the pilot is not sufficiently skilled. A [[Standard Docking Computer]] can be useful for players who have trouble docking this ship.
