I'll like to point in this whole discussion about combat logging. That there's a big difference between PvP, and getting griefed. I understand that if two CMDR's are in a PvP-sequences, where they both "go for it", and one of the CMDR's discovers that he can't kill the orther CMDR, and he combat logs, because he can't make it. In that case I don't think that combat logging. is acceptable nether.

But griefing is a whole other thing. Here you have a victim, there getting harassed by a most likely overpowered CMDR there's likely to just want to feel special, and/or show that he got an big "Anaconda" between his legs. They go for the weak, - people they know that have no chance at defeating them. They don't ask for a fight, and aren't set up for PvP. And yet they get killed, only to bolst someones ego. It think that in that case that it's acceptable to combat log.

So for them who say that you should accept it, because that's how real life is. Imagine that you go outside on the street and, are getting attacked unprovokedly. To have that opinion, would be to say, that you should just accept getting killed, well knowing that if you fled/combat logged, you'll survive. Wouldn't you flee if you know that was you only way to survive an attack you didn't ask for? Not that I say Elite should be as in real life, but still. And if you do survive the attack, you'll just get your ears full, about you shouldn't do it. And getting told, that, that is just what you get for going outside; don't go outside if you don't want to get killed. In the meantime the person who attacked, and almost killed you, get a slap over his fingers, and a raised finger. - Like you do to an six year old, when you find him having his fingers down in the cookie jar. That's how unbalanced things are atm. After my opinion.

To make it short: In PvP - combat logging - not acceptable. When getting griefed - combat logging - acceptable.

No, but you can't play multiplayer nather. You are forced to a life in solitude. What you are basically saying is: "If you want to meet other people, you gonna get killed." And bullies isn't necessarily a synonym, with murders. Bullies, is someone there makes your life hell, mostly in the school period. Not someone, who freeking kills you, because you look weak.

There's not not a proper rule set in Elite to prevent those things. And I'm afraid there never will be. And yeah, I just want to meet people, because, well, I like being social, LOL. Luckily I have a fully engineered Cutter I usually hang out in. But other are not as lucky. Like new CMDR's. Or the griefers sex toys if you will. And they just have no chance of avoid getting raped.

And to all of you who saying that bullies are everywhere, and you never know what people might "do" in real life. You're right. But to use it as an argument to say that you shouldn't combat log, is only a valid argument, if you're prepared to turn it around, and say that the penalty should be as equally as in real life as well. So if you kill someone, boom, life in prison/permanent ban. That's just stupid. This is Elite, not real life. And the penalty for being killed/griefed, far exceed the penalty for being caught. As orther CMDR's here has said. As long as they don't evan out those penalties, and find a proper balance, and/or make an PvP-flag of some sort, I will always combat log.

...And I you don't like it. Then please, continue being self-righteous about how YOU THINK other people should play the game. This is just my opinion, and I accept that.

They could also do as in GTA V Online too, by making it available so you could turn PvP/PvE on/off yourself. You could do it at station at the ships side panel. (where ship destruct, orbit line, beacon is). That way you can't just go behind a CMDR there's in PvP-mode, and turn it on, and kill him, without him being able to react. So when you scan a CMDR, you would see where the scan info is, (where name, and ship type is) if he's in PvP-mode, - could stand with red, or in non-PvP, - could stand with blue.

If he is in non-PvP mode, your bullets would rather pass right through him, or just not do any damage. And of course you wouldn't be able to intercept him, in supercruise.
