It is a distance of 65,279 Light Years from Sol. Reaching Beagle Point and returning to human space intact is considered the ultimate milestone for any explorer, beyond even traveling to Sagittarius A*.
Travelling to Beagle Point : A quick guide
As stated above, Beagle Point is located at a stunning distance of 65,279 lightyears away from Sol. This is more than twice the distance from Sol to Sagittarius A*, and the journey to Beagle Point (As well as the way back) can take several weeks, if not months, depending on your pace. The record time for getting to Beagle Point is 16 hours 11 minutes, in a ship fully optimized and engineered for pure jump range & while doing nothing else than just jumping.

The stuff you need
*Patience. This is key to all long-range explorations, but for this journey, you will need it more than ever before. You have to understand that going on a trip to Beagle Point is willing to do thousands of FSD jumps, visiting thousands of stars/planets, scanning as much as you can, eventually stopping at some points on your route for advanced exploration or for collecting resources on planets. All this over the span of several weeks/months with the constant pressure of death (Be it to module malfunction, lack of attention or even crash on a high-gravity planet) out there in the black. Since this is a very tiring journey, you lose focus quicker than you may think, and before you realize it you will probably jump in a system & without enough fuel to jump anywhere out of it.

* Good exploration ship with optimized outfitting. Asp/Diamondback Explorers & Anacondas will all do the job of taking you through the void. Just like any other long-range exploration, take all the necessary gear such as :
** Fuel Scoop
** A-grade FSD module (Preferrably engineered for extra jump range)
** Detailed Surface Scanner
** Advanced Discovery Scanner.
** Be sure to install as much D-class modules (Aside from the FSD of course) as you can on your ship, since they will drastically improve your jump range as well. Shields are optional, though you might want to take them if you feel unsecure.
** FSD Injection materials. You can collect them on the surface of various landable planets, and having FSD Injections help greatly if you run into what would be a dead end with your current FSD jump range.

The Abyss - the major hazard of your journey
* Aside from the common hazards of exploration, there is an area of the galaxy you should CAREFULLY be on the lookout for: The Abyss. It is located in the northern part of the Milky Way, in-between the Scutum-Centaurus & the Sagittarius-Carina arms. The Abyss is approximately 45,000 lightyears long, 2,000 lightyears wide and has extremely low star density, so low that it feels like staring at an abyss. Even with today's FSD technologies & upgrades, crossing the Abyss still proves to be an extremely difficult challenge.
* Manual plotting is highly advised! Trying to plot the route automatically might very often lead you in a dead end. You will want to look up guides/routes from other explorers as well. Be sure to carefully trace your route & pick as much scoopable stars as possible, because...
* ...Fuel is your number one priority. Since the systems are very far from one another, the threat of not having enough fuel for next jump is extremely high. And if you happen by sheer bad luck to be in a system with an unscoopable star that you can't jump out of, your last hope will be to call the Fuel Rats for help. Or be left alone with fuel slowly running out & die, losing all your hard work (And perhaps your motivation for a second trip) in the process.

If you successfully manage to cross the Abyss, keep in mind that you are near the fading point of the galaxy in the void. The star density barely gets any better even when you make it to Beagle Point. So take as much precautions as if you were still in the Abyss.

Generally, reaching Beagle Point & returning back to the bubble alive is a guaranteed way of getting Elite rank in Exploration. All the exploration data you will have gathered can easily number in the hundreds of millions of credits, if you scanned enough systems on the way. You will also most certainly encounter lots of undiscovered systems, which will all net you a +50% CR bonus for the first discovery.

Cmdr Kamzel reached Beagle Point (CEECKIA ZQ-L C24-0 at -1110:-135:65270). There weren't further systems to jump to in his 33ly Asp. The Milky Way there is a shiny band in the distance, too far off to see the dust clouds.

Notes
*The system, originally designated Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0, was first discovered by CMDR Kamzel, aka "Erimus", on January 18, 2015 as part of his "Distant Suns" expedition to survey the far side of the galaxy. CMDR Kamzel unofficially named the system "Beagle Point" after his ship, an Asp Explorer dubbed the DSS Beagle.
*Beagle Point featured as the main destination of the "Distant Worlds Expedition" that launched a year later on January 18, 2016, in which over 1,000 players pledged to participate in a massive coordinated journey to Beagle Point with the goal of scanning as many systems as possible along the way. By the time the expedition reached its destination in April, it was estimated that less than 25% of the fleet had survived.
*Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0 was officially renamed "Beagle Point" by Frontier Developments on May 26, 2016 to commemorate its importance to the exploration community.
*Jaques Station, the only space station equipped for continuous star travel, attempted an extreme long-range jump to Beagle Point from Gliese 1269 on May 21, 2016, following a successful community goal to provide the station with fuel. Due to Unknown Artefact interference, the station's drives malfunctioned during the jump and it was stranded in the system of Eol Prou RS-T d3-94. A community goal to provide Jaques Station with repair materials succeeded, but it is unknown when or if it will attempt to resume its journey to Beagle Point.
Single-pulse laser weapon...

A pulse laser is mounted on one of your ship's hardpoints and needs assigning to a fire group before you can use it. It's an energy weapon which causes immediate damage to any ship it intersects at effective range. Pulse lasers can deliver a significant amount of damage in a single hit. Unlike beam lasers that fire continuously when they are active, a pulse laser fires intermittently in an on/off fashion - even when you hold down the fire button. Pulse lasers do not overheat as quickly as beam lasers and therefore have a lower heat signature.

Pulse lasers are available as fixed, gimbal and turret mounted weapons.

The weapon hardpoints are located as follows: 1 small side mounted hardpoint and 1 medium side mounted hardpoint on each side of the cockpit for a total of 2 medium and 2 small. These hardpoints have their aim points arranged in a straight horizontal line with little space between reticule dots making them very usable with fixed mounts. However their side mounting and close space also make good mounts for gimbaled and turreted weapons.
This ship has animated engine pods that shift position and tilt when landing gear are deployed as well as a radiator panel on the top surface that opens when landing gear are deployed.

The PAGENAME, built by Faulcon DeLacy, is a superb multi-purpose ship suitable for any role. It is inexpensive - free, in fact - and can be used for light transport and combat duties.

Its manoeuvrability makes it an excellent choice for both green and experienced pilots. The Sidewinder is a dependable vessel that will get you where you need to go, safe and sound.

Uses the Spin Ionic MV.

Overview
The Sidewinder is the default craft offered throughout the game. The player starts in one, and if at any time their ship is destroyed they can get a free Sidewinder if they can't or don't want to replace their previous ship. New players who still struggle with learning the game, may find themselves flying in a Sidewinder for a longer time or going back to it often.

Although the Sidewinder is cheap, it is not harmless; it is among the top when it comes to manoeuvrability compared to other ships. In particular, it can out-turn a Cobra or Anaconda, stay aimed at subsystems, and still keep enough range to lay down fire. Combined with heavy weaponry like missile pods, the Sidewinder can punch far above its weight. The major disadvantages of the Sidewinder is that it isn't very quick, being outclassed by Eagles, Vipers, and Cobras, and that it isn't well armoured, being far outclassed by Pythons and Anacondas.

The Sidewinder is thus a master of the knife-fight, but a little weak at a distance. When flying one, using its excellent turning to lock opponents into circling matches, and burning away opposite of the enemy to escape are advised tactics. When fighting a Sidewinder, keep it at range and lay down heavy fire if the current ship can't outmanoeuvre it, and it should be destroyed quickly; with a ship that can keep up with its turning, close in and blast away, making sure to stay away from its front.
