It is a distance of 65,279 Light Years from Sol, and reaching it requires a ship with a minimum jump range of 34LY. Traveling to Beagle Point and returning to the Core Systems intact is considered the penultimate milestone for any explorer, above and beyond the trek to Sagittarius A* yet a step below making a successful crossing to Oevasy SG-Y d0.
Travelling to Beagle Point
As stated above, Beagle Point is located at a stunning distance of 65,279 lightyears away from Sol. This is more than twice the distance from Sol to Sagittarius A*, and the journey to Beagle Point (As well as the way back) can take several weeks, if not months, depending on your pace. The record time for getting to Beagle Point is 6 hours 35 minutes, in a ship fully optimized and engineered for neutron jumping.

Equipment
*Patience. This is key to all long-range explorations, but for this journey, you will need it more than ever before. You have to understand that going on a trip to Beagle Point is willing to do thousands of FSD jumps, visiting thousands of stars/planets, scanning as much as you can, eventually stopping at some points on your route for advanced exploration or for collecting resources on planets. All this over the span of several weeks/months with the constant pressure of death (Be it to module malfunction, lack of attention or even crash on a high-gravity planet) out there in the black. Since this is a very tiring journey, you lose focus quicker than you may think, and before you realize it you will probably jump in a system & without enough fuel to jump anywhere out of it.
*Good exploration ship with optimized outfitting. See Explorer for recommendations. Just like any other long-range exploration, take all the necessary gear such as:
**Fuel Scoop
**A-grade Frame Shift Drive with Increased Range Engineering mod and Deep Charge or Mass Manager Experimental Effect
**Guardian Frame Shift Drive Booster
**Detailed Surface Scanner
**D-rated modules with Engineering mods that reduce their mass where applicable
**FSD Injection Materials
**At least one Auto Field-Maintenance Unit for emergency module repairs; two AFMUs is recommended, since this allows one AFMU to repair the other in the event either sustains damage
**Planetary Vehicle Hangar for planet exploration and Raw Material prospecting

The Abyss
* Aside from the common hazards of exploration, there is an area of the galaxy you should CAREFULLY be on the lookout for: The Abyss. It is located in the northern part of the Milky Way, in-between the Scutum-Centaurus & the Sagittarius-Carina arms. The Abyss is approximately 45,000 lightyears long, 2,000 lightyears wide and has extremely low star density, so low that it feels like staring at an abyss. Even with today's FSD technologies & upgrades, crossing the Abyss still proves to be an extremely difficult challenge.
* Manual plotting is highly advised! Trying to plot the route automatically might very often lead you in a dead end. You will want to look up guides/routes from other explorers as well. Be sure to carefully trace your route & pick as much scoopable stars as possible, because...
* ...Fuel is your number one priority. Since the systems are very far from one another, the threat of not having enough fuel for next jump is extremely high. And if you happen by sheer bad luck to be in a system with an unscoopable star that you can't jump out of, your last hope will be to call the Fuel Rats for help. Or be left alone with fuel slowly running out & die, losing all your hard work (And perhaps your motivation for a second trip) in the process.

The benefits of this journey
Generally, reaching Beagle Point and returning back to the bubble alive is a guaranteed way of getting Elite rank in Exploration. All the exploration data you will have gathered can easily number in the hundreds of millions of credits, if you scanned enough systems on the way. You will also most certainly encounter lots of undiscovered systems, which will all net you a +50% CR bonus for the first discovery.

Why Beagle Point? Beagle Point is of early exploration historical importance as it was one of the furthest systems an explorer could reach prior to the Jumponium (fuel boost synthesis) and Engineer era. It marked the end of the line for Cmdr 'Erimus' Kamzel's Distant Suns Expedition (the first recorded galactic crossing - culminating in mid-January 3301), and as such the system subsequently became a popular location to visit for other deep space travellers exploring the far galactic rim in the years that followed. The system was named after Kamzel's 34 lightyear Asp Explorer, the DSS Beagle.

The early history of Beagle Point has been documented on the Galactic Mapping Project thread.

Notes
*The system, originally designated Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0, was first discovered by CMDR Kamzel, aka "Erimus", as part of his "Distant Suns" expedition to survey the far side of the galaxy. This was the first recorded galactic crossing, culminating on January 18th 3301.
*CMDR Kamzel unofficially named the system "Beagle Point" after his ship, an Asp Explorer dubbed the DSS Beagle.
*Beagle Point featured as the main destination of the Distant Worlds Expedition that launched a year later on January 18, 3302, in which 1,153 players pledged to participate in a massive coordinated journey to Beagle Point with the goal of scanning as many systems as possible along the way. Only 571 players, less than 50% of the original fleet, confirmed that they had reached Beagle Point at the end of the expedition.
*Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0 was officially renamed "Beagle Point" by Frontier Developments on May 26, 3302 to commemorate its importance to the exploration community.
*Jaques Station, the only space station equipped for continuous star travel, attempted an extreme long-range jump to Beagle Point from Gliese 1269 on May 21, 3302, following a successful community goal to provide the station with fuel. Due to Unknown Artefact interference, the station's drives malfunctioned during the jump and it was stranded in the system of Eol Prou RS-T d3-94. A community goal to provide Jaques Station with repair materials succeeded, but it is unknown when or if it will attempt to resume its journey to Beagle Point.

History
Announcement and Early Planning
On October 10, 3303, CMDR Erimus made an early announcement for the sequel to the Distant Worlds Expedition. Coming in the wake of the reveal of Elite Dangerous: Beyond at Frontier Expo 2017, it was determined that Distant World II would launch in Q4 3304/Q1 3305, after the release of Beyond's exploration-focused Chapter 4 update.

The stated goals of the expedition are:
* We want to create an event that challenges its participants, like DWE 3302 did.
* We want to create interesting basecamp meetups and events, that include all what the first expedition had, and more - specifically utilising whatever new discovery mechanics the new content requires.
* We would like to reach the same scale as last time or beat it, and then take advantage of our large contingent in the hopes the expedition might discover some of the new and mysterious things FD have hinted at!
* We have plans to bring back the Distant Worlds weekly newsletter that proved so popular last time around, and eventually have it again bound into a book as a memento.
* Naturally DWE2 plan to work in conjunction with the Galactic Mapping Project to discover, catalogue, and name new POIs, spatial anomalies, and geological features.
* The expedition will encourage and facilitate all the emergent gameplay that explorers are renowned for into joining and helping organise and oversee certain aspects of this mammoth endeavour; Fuel Rats, Rock Rats, MediCorp, The Repair & Tour Group, The Galactic Travel Agency, Surveyors, Galactic Mappers, Scouts, and even squadrons that will hopefully be able to utilise the new fleet carriers.
* We will put together an experienced organisation team to help create a memorable event.

Expedition Proposal
On January 14, 3304, on the second anniversary of the launch of the Distant Worlds Expedition, the expedition outline was posted by Erimus. The proposal included a Community Goal idea that would be run in conjunction with the main expedition, which if implemented, would incorporate prospecting and mining into the expedition. Early plans also suggested Community Goals to construct a Starport in Sagittarius A* and a Surface Port in Beagle Point; while the former goal was mostly preserved for Waypoint 7 of the finalized proposal, the latter goal was cancelled.

Registration
The expedition began accepting signups on February 1, 3304 (click here to register). Since then, a number of milestones in participation were achieved:

Preliminary Route
The preliminary expedition route outlined on February 1, 3304 proposed that Distant Worlds II would travel through both Sagittarius A* and Beagle Point on the "Outbound" stage, while "The Voyage Home" stage would trace the journey of the USS Voyager. The journey would cover over 200,000 ly and was estimated to take 304 days to complete.

Waypoint Scouting Event
On April 1st, 3304, CMDR Erimus posted a call for explorers currently on a deep space excursion to submit POIs or areas of interest that may be suitable to be used as Distant Worlds 2 waypoints and basecamps.

Out of all submissions, 15-20 will be incorporated into Distant Worlds.
Fleet Logistics: Call for Volunteers
On April 16th, 3304, CMDR Olivia Vespera posted a call for volunteers in the bubble to help fleet logistics gather 10 of each available rare commodity in the game across all 3 gaming platforms. Members who answer the call are were asked to join the Fleet Logistics Discord and were given the role, Gatherer. The gathered rares would be stored in "warehouse" ships until they can be preloaded onto truckers.

#Waypoints 1-5: Laying the foundations for Galactic Core scientific studies, revisiting mysteries of the past, and trailblazing the new age of discovery.
#Waypoints 6-9: Building the Galactic Core Starport and discovering secrets at the heart of the galaxy.
#Waypoints 10-12: Mapping the Aphelion.
#Waypoints 13-15: A journey across the Abyss... and beyond.

In addition to various community events and exploration opportunities along the full route, a Community Goal will take place at Waypoint 2, approximately 6,000 ly away from the Core Systems, and involve mining materials for the construction of a new Starport at a Stage 2 Waypoint, which will be located in a system neighboring Sagittarius A*. During Stage 2, the Starport will be constructed and support a second Community Goal to upgrade its amenities for members of the expedition and future travelers. The expedition will remain in the galactic core region for two to three weeks before continuing onward to Beagle Point.

The "Voyage Home" half of the expedition will begin sometime after the Distant Worlds II expedition reaches Beagle Point, and involve the return journey to the Core Systems via an indirect route. More details will be announced at a later date.

Departure
The Distant Worlds II expedition will officially depart from the Distant Worlds Tourist Beacon in the Pallaeni system on January 13, 3305.

Expedition Waypoints
The expedition will initially gather at the Distant Worlds Tourist Beacon orbiting the main star of the Pallaeni system before departing for the first waypoint. Instead of announcing all waypoint locations simultaneously prior to the start of the expedition, Distant Worlds II organizers will only reveal each waypoint one at a time to encourage expedition members to stay together, focus on the expedition's Community Goals and other events, and thoroughly explore the areas surrounding the waypoints for interesting discoveries.
|Explorer
|The default role that anyone not selecting a specific role is automatically assigned. Explorers will make up the bulk of the fleet and are those that are not fussed on specialization. During the journey Explorers will discover interesting stellar, planetary, or environmental POIs (like planetary nebulae etc). The very best of these POIs will then be used by Tour Guides, the Galactic Mapping Team, and Fleet Astrophotographers to visit and catalogue during the expedition and waypoint visits.
|-
|
|Fuel Rat
|Fuel Rats are welcome along on any deep space expedition and are invaluable. They're the last resort for players who get stranded out in the far depths of space.
|-
|
|Miner
|For the first time ever, Prospecting and Mining will have a practical role to play on a deep space expeditionary event, with miners at the forefront of the industrial aspect of Distant Worlds 2.
|-
|
|-
|
|Tour Guide
|These pilots will work in conjunction with the Galactic Travel Agency and utilize Multi-Crew. The service will allow many more players to take part in DW2 as passengers and guests aboard Tour Guide operators ships. For RP purposes we encourage Tour Guides to register Belugas, Orcas, or Dolphin-class cruisers with the DW fleet.
|-
|
|Astrophotographer
|This project will be overseen by Qohen Leth for the official Distant Worlds Imgur Album. Astrophotographers will be encouraged to submit their photos to the album, some of these submissions will be highlighted and written about in the DW2 weekly newsletter, there may even be prizes on offer for a 'pic of the week'.
|-
|
|Fighter Escort
|Fighter Escort (Fleet Defence Force Squadrons) will be tasked to protect the fleet throughout the entirety of the journey to the far rim and back. More details on this role will become apparent during 3304.
|-
|
|Geologist
|The prime focus for fleet Geologists is to seek out and catalogue active geological sites and interesting surface features for the Milky Way Society of Organics and Geology (overseen by CMDR MadRaptor - The Galactic Geologist), and the Galactic Mapping Project (overseen by the GMP Team).
|-
|
|Scientist
|This role is speculative and is based on the assumption that Environmental Space Anomalies (hinted at by FD) will be discoverable by Q4 3304, and will thus need charting for the Mapping Project and cataloguing. Scientists will also directly contribute to The Scientific Surveyor Project, whose goal will be to collate a wealth of statistics on star systems, worlds, and asteroid fields (among other things), from which EfilOne will create statistical documents on what the DW2 fleet discovered by journey's end.
|-
|
|Media
|This role will encompass Video Makers, Streamers, Mission Chroniclers and Blog-Writers who want to document their own journeys and share them with the community. Like on DW3302, some of the media content created during the expedition may be featured in the newsletters.
|-
|
|MediCorp
|This is a semi-roleplayed role and is based upon the concept created by Wing Atlantis. The basic premise is for MediCorp pilots to collect stranded escape pods that are located during the expedition and store them aboard their ships until journeys end, whereupon they will be delivered to a stations search & rescue department.
|-
|
|Fleet Logistics
|This is a roleplayed role and is based upon the concept created by Olivia Vespera. There are two aspects to this role. Supply and Trade. Supply will carry food equivalent to the amount required to support a fleet of this size for a 6 month journey into the black. Traders will carry various rare commodities for use in celebrations, or to trade with AI settlements we may encounter.
|}

Private Groups
Like Distant Worlds, Distant Worlds 2 will host several private groups for fleet members to fly safe and to host official meetups. As with the previous expedition. Flying in the private group is not a requirement to be on the expedition.
Distant Worlds 2 will utilize the Squadrons feature added by Elite Dangerous: Beyond Chapter Four (3.3). As Squadrons have a maximum capacity of 500 members, multiple Squadrons will be created for the expedition. Joining an official DW2 Squadron is not mandatory, but applicants are required to first register on the official DW2 roster, and anyone found not to have registered will be subject to immediate removal. Expedition Squadrons will begin accepting member applications on January 1, 3305.

Distant Worlds II, abbreviated as DW2, is the sequel to the Distant Worlds Expedition, the first major community expedition in Elite Dangerous history. === Announcement and Early Planning ===

As of February 1, 3304, Distant Worlds II is still in the planning stage and most waypoints have yet to be determined. A scouting event for the communtiy to submit waypoints for selection has been launched. The expedition will initially gather outside the settlement Brooks Point on Pallaeni A 1, the same launch point as in the original Distant Worlds Expedition.
!Description
|-
|
|-
|
|Fuel Rat
|Part of the Resource Acquisition Teams [R.A.Ts] we hope to incorporate into DW2. The Fuel Rat role will not only require the pilot to fit a limpet control module, but they will also double as fuel mineral haulers and help refuel fleet Carriers during mining operations (provided logistical support for such ships is introduced - pure speculation at this point). Ships with a large cargo capacity are recommended for this role.
|-
|
|Miner
|Part of the Resource Acquisition Teams [R.A.Ts] we hope to incorporate into DW2. For the outbound journey, a miners primary role will be to scout for and mine the essential ice-based minerals needed to refuel the flagship (again, this is speculative at this point). Miners will also be needed during a possible construction Community Goal at Sag-A* and Beagle Point (if the CG proposal is accepted by FD). Major resource gathering operations will be overseen and coordinated by the Rock Rats whose task will be to set up group mining operations and work in conjunction with fleet haulers and Fuel Rats during the refueling procedure and CG construction phase of the mission. Please be aware that this role is wholly dependent on either the CG proposal being implemented, or Megaship refueling support being introduced in the Beyond series. If there is no practical reason to incorporate Miners on DW2, the role will become obsolete for this expedition.
|-
|
|Fleet Mechanic
|Commanders who rig their ships to carry Hull Repair Limpets and are on hand to offer essential hull repairs to all fleet members who require their services. |-
|
More details on what this role entails can be found here: Link.
|
|
|This role depends on the ability of the DW fleet to incorporate Carriers. If this proves viable, fighter squadrons operating from a Carrier each will be tasked to protect the entire fleet and its exploration and mining excursions throughout the entirety of the journey to the far rim and back.
|
|
|-
|
|Media
|This role will encompass Video Makers, Streamers, Mission Chroniclers and Blog-Writers. Some of the media content created during the mission will be used in the weekly DW2 newsletters.
|-
|
Expedition Waypoints
As of February 1, 3304, Distant Worlds II is still in the planning stage and most waypoints have yet to be determined. The expedition will initially gather outside the settlement Brooks Point on Pallaeni A 1, the same launch point as in the original Distant Worlds Expedition.
|
|-
|
|
|
|-
|
|
|
|This role depends on the ability of the DW fleet to incorporate Carriers. If this proves viable, fighter squadrons operating from a Carrier each will be tasked to protect the entire fleet and its exploration and mining excursions throughout the entirety of the journey to the far rim and back.
|
|
|-
|
|Media
Distant Worlds II, abbreviated as DW2, is the sequel to the Distant Worlds Expedition, the first major community expedition in Elite Dangerous history. It was announced on October 10, 3303, and is expected to launch in Q4 3304/Q1 3305.

History
Announcement and Registration
On October 10, 3303, CMDR Erimus made an early announcement for the sequel to the Distant Worlds Expedition in Q4 3304/Q1 3305. The expedition began accepting signups on February 1, 3304 (click here to register).

Planning
Following the announcements for Elite: Dangerous Beyond at Frontier Expo 2017, on the promise of "new space anomalies, planetary features, enhanced geology, improved tools to utilise, and fleet carriers.", an early announcement for a Distant Worlds II Expedition was posted.

On January 14th 2018 the expedition outline was posted by Erimus. The proposal included a Community Goal idea that would be run in conjunction with the main expedition, which if implemented, would incorporate prospecting and mining into the expedition.

Preliminary Route
As of February 1, 3304, Distant Worlds II is intended to travel through both Sagittarius A* and Beagle Point on the "Outbound" stage, while "The Voyage Home" stage will trace the journey of the USS Voyager. The journey will cover over 200,000 ly and is estimated to take 304 days to complete.

Planning
Following the announcements for Elite: Dangerous Beyond at Frontier Expo 2017, on the promise of "new space anomalies, planetary features, enhanced geology, improved tools to utilise, and fleet carriers.", Dr. Kaii, Erimus, and Qohen Leth have made an early announcement for Distant Worlds II.

* Naturally DWE2 plan to work in conjunction with the Galactic Mapping Project to discover, catalogue, and name new POIs, spacial anomalies, and geological features.

!Role
!Description
|-
|
|-
|
|
|
More details on what this role entails can be found here: Link.
|-
|
More details on what this role entails can be found here: Link.
|
|
|This role depends on the ability of the DW fleet to incorporate Carriers. If this proves viable, fighter squadrons operating from a Carrier each will be tasked to protect the entire fleet and its exploration and mining excursions throughout the entirety of the journey to the far rim and back.
|
|
|-
|
|Media
|This role will encompass Video Makers, Streamers, Mission Chroniclers and Blog-Writers. Some of the media content created during the mission will be used in the weekly DW2 newsletters.
|-
|
|MediCorp
|This is a roleplayed role and is based upon the concept created by Wing Atlantis. More details of what this role entails can be found here: MediCorp.
|-
|
|Fleet Logistics
|This is a roleplayed role and is based upon the concept created by Olivia Vespera. <s>There are two aspects to this role. Supply and Trade. Supply will carry food equivalent to the amount required to support a fleet of this size for a 6 month journey into the black.</s> Traders will carry various rare commodities for use in celebrations, or to trade with AI settlements we may encounter. More details of what this role entails can be found here: Link.
If there is no practical reason to incorporate Miners on DW2, the role will become obsolete for this expedition.

Planning
Following the announcements for Elite: Dangerous Beyond at Frontier Expo 2017, on the promise of "new space anomalies, planetary features, enhanced geology, improved tools to utilise, and fleet carriers.", Erimus and Dr. Kaii have made an early announcement for Distant Worlds II

* Naturally DWE2 plan to work in conjunction with the Galactic Mapping Project to discover, catalogue, and name new POIs, spacial anomalies, and geological features.

* We have plans to bring back the Distant Worlds weekly newsletter that proved so popular last time around, and eventually have it again bound into a book as a memento.
* Naturally DWE2 plan to work in conjunction with the Galactic Mapping Project to discover, catalogue, and name new POIs, spacial anomalies, and geological features.

!Role
!Description
|-
|
|-
|
|
|
More details on what this role entails can be found here: Link.
|-
|
More details on what this role entails can be found here: Link.
|
|
|This role depends on the ability of the DW fleet to incorporate Carriers. If this proves viable, fighter squadrons operating from a Carrier each will be tasked to protect the entire fleet and its exploration and mining excursions throughout the entirety of the journey to the far rim and back.
|
|
|-
|
|
|

The Abyss is a northern region of the galaxy, located near the fading point & between the Scutum-Centaurus & the Sagittarius-Carina arms. It stretches roughly 45,000 light years across the edge of the Scutum-Centaurus arm, and is over 2,000 light years wide in some places. It's considered as one of the most difficult areas to navigate in through the entire galaxy. Even crossing it in a fully optimized, exploration-geared & engineered Anaconda proves to be a tough challenge.

The Abyss is considered to be the major hazard for all explorers willing to reach Beagle Point, due to its extremely low star density. It is fairly common to see star systems being 40 to 50 lightyears away from one another. Extreme precautions are to be taken when crossing the Abyss, such as manually plotting your route, carefully choosing your waypoints & paying constant attention to your fuel. Running low on fuel, jumping in a system & not being able to jump out can happen very fast, faster than you may think.

Notes
* The name "The Abyss" originates mainly from the fact that the stars are so distant from one another in this area, so much that you can barely distinguish anything while staring at it, and it truly feels like staring at a bottomless abyss.
* CMDR Kamzel (aka Erimus), aboard his Asp Explorer dubbed the "DSS Beagle" was the first successful player to cross the Abyss & reach Beagle Point (Originally called Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0) in January 2015. His first attempt at crossing the Abyss resulted in him having to backtrack 8,000 lightyears along the outer edge of the Scutum arm in the hope of finding a passage through a dense ridge of stars. That ridge was eventually found, and so CMDR Kamzel realized the first successful crossing of The Abyss.
It is a distance of 65,279 Light Years from Sol. == Travelling to Beagle Point : A quick guide ==

The stuff you need

* Good exploration ship with optimized outfitting. Asp/Diamondback Explorers & Anacondas will all do the job of taking you through the void. Just like any other long-range exploration, take all the necessary gear such as :
** Fuel Scoop
** A-grade FSD module (Preferably engineered for extra jump range)
** Detailed Surface Scanner
** Advanced Discovery Scanner.
** Be sure to install as much D-class modules (Aside from the FSD of course) as you can on your ship, since they will drastically improve your jump range as well. Shields are optional, though you might want to take them if you feel unsecure.
** FSD Injection materials. You can collect them on the surface of various landable planets, and having FSD Injections help greatly if you run into what would be a dead end with your current FSD jump range.

The Abyss - the major hazard of your journey

Generally, reaching Beagle Point & returning back to the bubble alive is a guaranteed way of getting Elite rank in Exploration. All the exploration data you will have gathered can easily number in the hundreds of millions of credits, if you scanned enough systems on the way. You will also most certainly encounter lots of undiscovered systems, which will all net you a +50% CR bonus for the first discovery.

<strong>Why Beagle Point? </strong>Beagle Point is of early exploration historical importance as it was one of the furthest systems an explorer could reach prior to the Jumponium (fuel boost synthesis) and Engineer era.

*Beagle Point featured as the main destination of the Distant Worlds Expedition that launched a year later on January 18, 3302, in which over 1,300 players pledged to participate in a massive coordinated journey to Beagle Point with the goal of scanning as many systems as possible along the way. By the time the expedition reached its destination in April, it was estimated that less than 40% of the fleet had survived.
Travelling to Beagle Point : A quick guide
As stated above, Beagle Point is located at a stunning distance of 65,279 lightyears away from Sol. This is more than twice the distance from Sol to Sagittarius A*, and the journey to Beagle Point (As well as the way back) can take several weeks, if not months, depending on your pace. The record time for getting to Beagle Point is 6 hours 35 minutes, in a ship fully optimized and engineered for neutron jumping.

The stuff you need

This was the first recorded galactic crossing, culminating on January 18th 2015.
*CMDR Kamzel unofficially named the system "Beagle Point" after his ship, an Asp Explorer dubbed the DSS Beagle.
By the time the expedition reached its destination in April, it was estimated that less than 40% of the fleet had survived.
*Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0 was officially renamed "Beagle Point" by Frontier Developments on May 26, 2016 to commemorate its importance to the exploration community.
*Jaques Station, the only space station equipped for continuous star travel, attempted an extreme long-range jump to Beagle Point from Gliese 1269 on May 21, 2016, following a successful community goal to provide the station with fuel.

If you successfully manage to cross the Abyss, keep in mind that you are near the fading point of the galaxy in the void. The star density barely gets any better even when you make it to Beagle Point. So take as much precautions as if you were still in the Abyss.

Cmdr Kamzel reached Beagle Point (CEECKIA ZQ-L C24-0 at -1110:-135:65270). There weren't further systems to jump to in his 33ly Asp. The Milky Way there is a shiny band in the distance, too far off to see the dust clouds.

Notes
*The system, originally designated Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0, was first discovered by CMDR Kamzel, aka "Erimus", on January 18, 2015 as part of his "Distant Suns" expedition to survey the far side of the galaxy. CMDR Kamzel unofficially named the system "Beagle Point" after his ship, an Asp Explorer dubbed the DSS Beagle.
*Beagle Point featured as the main destination of the Distant Worlds Expedition that launched a year later on January 18, 2016, in which over 1,300 players pledged to participate in a massive coordinated journey to Beagle Point with the goal of scanning as many systems as possible along the way.
