Should be quite a decent explorer, much more nimble than the cumbersome Asp Explorer and the extra optional slot should give you plenty room to fit a Class 5 Guardian FSD booster

We already have a ship that is a bit more nimble than the Krait Mk.2, has an armor tank and 2 medium and large hardpoints each. It's the Federal Assault Ship.

I mean the standard Krait Mk.2 already is a pretty solid explorer.

Now that I think of it, WHAT IF the Phantom has been retrofitted to somehow fit a Class 6 FSD? I looked into the stats and a Phantom-class ship should have the powergrid and size needed to fit a class 6 FSD.

A class 6 FSD draws only 25% more power than a class 5 and has twice the mass. Wouldn't be unreasonable to assume someone cannibalized a hardpoint, 2 canopies and downsized a bunch of optional internals to squeeze in an oversized FSD. After all, a Krait Phantom is a standard Krait Mk.2 retrofitted with Guardian Tech.

You know what would be a really interesting addition?

A dedicated large explorer with a class 7 FSD. I mean there already are ships in the game with a class 7 FSD (i.e. Imperial Cutter). So why not an explorer? Keep in mind that the anaconda only has a class 6 FSD.
