A '''{{PAGENAME}}''' is a location where two factions within a system are actively fighting. These locations spawn in a system where the controlling minor faction is in a state of "Civil War".<ref>[https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=97577&page=18&p=1535703#post1535703 Michael Brookes on Conflict Zone spawning]</ref> While a civil war is active in a system, the various factions in and around the system will hand out missions that require the destruction of a number of ships found inside a conflict zone.

Players that enter normal space at these locations can choose which faction they would like to temporarily represent and fight against the opposing faction's ships. For each opponent the player kills the player is rewarded with a combat voucher which can be redeemed for credits at stations controlled by the faction the player represented. Between bounties and combat vouchers, fighting in conflict zones can be a profitable venture for players who are skilled in combat.

Each minor faction has its own '''{{PAGENAME}}''' type - stations and systems inherit from the minor faction that controls them. There is not much known about the effects of government type on the game's mechanics.

There are fourteen government types: None, Anarchy, Colony, Democracy, Imperial, Corporate, Communism, Feudal, Dictatorship, Theocracy, Cooperative, Patronage, Confederacy, and Prison Colony. None and Anarchy both allow crimes to be committed without recompense and ships here will not show up as WANTED thus it is recommended to keep an eye out for pirates.

==Notes==
* A system's government type can be seen via the Info tab in the Galaxy Map, by color coding stars in the Galaxy Map, or by viewing the overall information in the [[System Map]].
* Minor Faction government types can be viewed in the overall information in the System Map.
* Station government types can be viewed by selecting a station on the System Map.
* When in an Anarchy system, ships will not show up as WANTED, but they can be Scanned with a [[Kill Warrant Scanner]] which will reveal any bounties currently active on their heads.
