The '''Anaconda''' is currently the largest ship that is able to be piloted by a player in [[Elite: Dangerous|Elite Dangerous]]. Boasting an array of weapon [[hardpoint]]s this ship is a formidable [[combat]] ship capable of holding its own against multiple opponents. It, the [[Fer-de-Lance]] and the upcoming Federal Corvette are the only [[ships]] capable of equipping the powerful Class 4 [[Plasma Accelerator]]s and Cannons. Some [[trader]]s also make use of this ship due to its high jump range, enormous cargo capacity (Surpassed only by the [[Lakon Type-9 Heavy]]), and superb defensive capabilities. The only downside is the cost to upgrade and maintain the ship. Prices for modules will easily exceed 1 million credits.

The weapon hardpoint locations are as follows: Two Class 3 Large hardpoints top mounted side-by-side to each other in front of the cockpit and about 1/3 the ship length back from the front tip with slightly blocked aft line of sight. One Class 2 Medium hardpoint side mounted on each side near the front tip of the ship (2x Class 2 medium hardpoints total) with decent lines of sight. One Class 3 Large hardpoint mounted on the underside of the ship, near the tip of the ship, with somewhat blocked aft line of sight. One Class 4 Huge hardpoint mounted on the underside of the ship at about 1/3 of the ship length back from the front tip, mounted slightly lower than the underside class 3 hardpoint, with nearly uninterrupted forward and below lines of sight and somewhat blocked aft lines of sight. Two Class 1 Small hardpoints mounted on the underside of the ship, side-by-side to each other, at the very back of the large rectangular Cargo bay shaped area, with nearly uninterrupted lines of sight in all underside directions but have extremely limited firing arc convergence with the top mounted class 3 large hardpoints.the thargoids have edited this and will be coming be prepared.

The '''{{PAGENAME}}''' is a heavily armed and well-protected craft, boasting considerable maneuverability for its hulking size. Despite being exceptionally powerful and potentially useful in a variety of roles, the Python does suffer from exceptionally high operating costs, making it a potentially cost-prohibitive option for many pilots.

It is considered by some to be the most effective balance between firepower, maneuverability, and protection currently available. In addition to being capable of holding its own against the larger [[Anaconda]] in a toe-to-toe frontal battle through its substantial protection and firepower, the {{PAGENAME}}''' '''is generally agile enough to comfortably deal with smaller fighter classes without having to rely on turret mounts.

The {{PAGENAME}} can also serve as a heavily armed freighter in that it can carry 284 T of cargo with a class 3 [[shield]] module fitted, or 292 T with no shield fitted, both of which is more cargo than the [[Type-7 Transporter]] can carry without shields fitted. Additionally, besides being able to carry more cargo while retaining shields, the {{PAGENAME}} can dock at [[Outpost]]s since it utilizes medium sized landing pads. However, the downside to trading with a {{PAGENAME}} is its higher repair/maintenance costs and its shorter jump range when fully loaded.

The weapon hard points are located as follows: two large hardpoints located either side of the ships spine around the midship, and two medium points located slightly behind the cockpit. The final large hardpoint is located on the underside of the nose section. The nose mounted hardpoint has good vertical field of fire when gimballed or turreted (considering its location) which gives the Python a good field of fire where all weapon hardpoints can track and hit a target (when gimbaled or turreted). the thargoids have edited this and will be coming be prepared.

The Thargoids are an insectoid alien race who are said to originate outside of known space, perhaps existing in a parallel universe or spacial dimension. Thargoids are the one of two known sapient species in the galaxy (the other being human), although artifacts of other races have been found. Of course a lot of the galaxy remains unexplored so there may be races not yet discovered, but we should expect them to be quite rare.<ref>http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?p=38820#post38820</ref>

They are very hostile and aggressive and have not been interested in diplomatic relations to date. It has been rumoured that Thargoids could be capable of building large artificial structures which could possibly be on a scale with planets, and certainly large enough to negate a ship's warp ability.<ref>http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?p=85034#post85034</ref>

Certain events in Frontier: First Encounters have indicated that there may be another side to Thargoids; in prior conflicts, they have shown some anomalous behavior that does not entirely match with their popular image as relentless killing machines. At some point, a Commander Jameson may or may not have interacted with them, and may or may not have chosen to provide them with the vaccine to a genetically-engineered fungus ("hyper-mycoid") that attacked critical materials in their hyperdrives, preventing the construction of interstellar vehicles. If not, and if they appear in Dangerous regardless, then it can be assumed they developed a countermeasure on their own.

==Society==
Not much information has been obtained about Thargoid society or culture. The only known fact is that the society is hive based, with no sense of close family. It is thought that the society is divided into colonies, possibly along the lines of ant colonies.

Thargoids are thought to have a natural affinity with space, and with witchspace in particular. This is due to the fact that Thargoid warriors seem to spend a large amount of time in space. Naval pilots and crews report that the warships in the war zones are encountered on repeated occasions over a period of months often without respite.

Based on the study of some wrecked ships, Thargoids as a race seem to have a very spartan approach to furnishing and belongings. Crew quarters are practically devoid of possessions other than those necessary for military crew. All belongings are functional and necessary.

==Politics==
Nothing is known about internal Thargoid politics.

Thargoid relations with other races is frighteningly simple: war. The three largest organisations in Galaxy 1 are all at war with the Thargoid race, and they are constantly under threat of planetary invasion.

The Thargoid invasions usually seem to be prompted by the need for either agricultural or mineral resources, rather than a sociological or anthropological need to expand or colonise. In fact, the animal life on an invaded world is largely ignored unless it poses a threat to Thargoids.

==Technology==
Thargoid technology is vastly different and in many ways far superior to established GalCop technology. The warships have no visible form of propulsion, neither from vented emissions nor engine exhausts, yet they are manoeuvrable and agile.

The Thargoids are also superior in the use of advanced AI and remote craft, an area in which GalCop is sadly behind.

Other fields of technology that the Thargoids are in advance of GalCop, include metallurgy,poopenetics, physics and weapons tech. Their hyperdrives and shield technologies are also superior.

The name 'Thargoid' is believed to have come from the regular skit 'Captain Kremmen' performed by radio and TV personality Kenny Everett on both his radio shows and, in animated form, on TV.<ref>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Kremmen</ref>

The animated skits show the Thargoids as a race of short, transparent manbearpigs who are part of a highly-wealthy monarchical society.<ref>http://youtu.be/pyjKPbkkW9k?t=2m26s</ref> It is assumed that their main source of income is profiting from the sale of natural resources taken from planets they have colonised stretching tonnes of light years.
