The Type-10 Defender is a Lakon Spaceways ship that represents a comprehensive revision of the Type-9 Heavy. The Alliance commissioned Lakon to build the Type-10 to combat the escalating Thargoid threat following a series of attacks against Stations in the Pleiades Nebula. Lakon committed to an aggressive production schedule that delivered the Type-10 to retailers within a week of the announcement.

The ship was released as part of update 2.4, "The Return".

Overview
Like the Type-9 Heavy it was based on, the Type-10 Defender is a slow, bulky ship, but substantial modifications to the design give it more versatility. The Type-10 is not only somewhat faster than the Type-9, but has stronger armour, better heat management, double the utility slots, four added large weapon slots, and two Military Compartments, making it a viable warship.

Notably, despite the Type-10's focus on combat-readiness, it also retains the same overall cargo capacity as the Type-9, allowing it to be configured into a well-protected heavy trader. However, due to the wide spacing of the weapon slots, gimballed or turreted weapons are recommended. The Type-10 also has a small Power Distributor for the amount of Hardpoints that it has, causing it to struggle with Weapons that have high Distributor Draw, especially Thermal Weapons
The concept art image was shown during Frontier's Q&A session at Lavecon 2015 and it is variant of the Eagle MkII; also known as Eagle MkIII. It is faster than the Eagle MkII at the cost of a lower manoeuvrability.

Overview
The Imperial Eagle boasts superior armour and shield strength in addition to one medium Hardpoint replacing one of the three small hardpoints on the regular Eagle MkII, however it is not as maneuverable as the original Eagle MkII. It is one of the fastest ships in the game; in fact, with EP thrusters and Engineer upgrades, it may have the highest potential normal-space speed of any playable ship.

The weapon hardpoints are located as follows: a single medium hardpoint on the top of the ship behind the cockpit and two small hardpoints mounted side-by-side on the underside of the main fuselage in front of the bump that contains the cargo scoop.

According to the Powerplay players' guide, all Imperial ships can be found on Zemina Torval's controlled systems (Not exploited systems, just controlled ones), Tested on Jan 3rd, 2015 and all the 4 imperial ships were found in Zeterat System (Skjellerup Terminal), and Amphisatsu System (Goldberg Orbital). They can even be found on independent systems, as long as they are controlled by Zemina.
Imperial Eagle

The Eagle MkII is an agile fighter sporting 3 weapon hardpoints. It is the most manoeuvrable ship currently in the game (excluding ship launched fighters), as well as being the cheapest combat-specialized vessel. However, it suffers from a short hyperspace range, as well as a tendency to overheat and run out of weapons power.

In September 2014 Frontier announced that the Eagle would become a second starting ship for all players who had pre-ordered Elite Dangerous, including existing Beta and Kickstarter supporters. This starting Eagle (known as the "Freagle") is located in a Station outside of the player's starting system and can be flown once the commander travels to the station where it is stored. The Free Eagle can be found by opening the Galaxy Map and looking for a system with a blue ship icon next to it; the ship will be located in a station within the designated system.

Some players aspiring to be bounty hunters may use the Eagle as a cheaper alternative to the Viper. While this is a valid strategy for bounty hunting, keep in mind that the Eagle, while very agile, has a very weak hull so fitting a shield booster is strongly advised for an Eagle wielding bounty hunter. The issue with this however is that Eagle has only one utility mount, meaning that this means going without a Kill Warrant Scanner.

The weapon hardpoints are located as follows: 2 small hardpoints on the underside of main body of ship, 1 small hardpoint on the top of the ship behind the cockpit.

The Eagle MkII has an available 12 piece cosmetic ship kit that can be purchased from the Frontier store which allows you to "remodel your ship in your personal style". The ship kit does not affect gameplay.

Purchase Locations
The Eagle is a very common ship and can be found at nearly any shipyard. If you are struggling to find it, the following (incomplete) list contains confirmed purchase locations.

While this is a valid strategy for bounty hunting, keep in mind that the Eagle, while very agile, has a very weak hull so fitting Shield Boosters is strongly advised for an Eagle wielding bounty hunter.

Stations are built in space to provide living space for humans, and are specialized to produce certain goods. Ships can dock at them, allowing access to the station services. Station services include accepting missions and passenger contracts, buying new ships or outfitting for ships, clearing and collecting bounty, paying fines, refuelling, repairs, trading (legally and illegally), and hiring crew. They are also equipped with their own defence systems in place to deal with criminals and smugglers. Defensive turrets are very powerful and can destroy a small size ship (Hauler, Cobra) in a matter of seconds.

Some stations rotate to provide centrifugal force simulating the pull of gravity. The exterior appearance of a station is an accurate depiction of its specialized economic output, although there are several variants of each model. For example, towns and farms are clearly visible in agricultural hubs, or Orbis models.

The number and quality of services available at a station can vary. Under certain extreme conditions, such as when a large quantity of Unknown Artefacts has been sold on a station's black market, most or all services, including refuelling, may be disabled. Two station types, Capital Ship Docks and Installations, offer no docking facilities or services.

Lore
Starports such as the Coriolis, Orbis and Ocellus are a safe haven for pilots amid the vastness of space. They’re also very big; an entire city floating in space and slowly rotating to create artificial gravity for the traders, pilots, tourists and citizens aboard. Millions of people live and work there. Gravity differs between each tower's floors. For many residents real daylight is a rare privilege. The landing hub is pressurized with an atmosphere. The docking hub is a safe zone, because no firing of weapons is permitted. Defensive turrets protect it and uphold the law.
Features
Station Type
The station type and interiors are determined by star system type, economy, and population. There are Tourism, Refinery, Agriculture, Tech, Regular, and Wealthy station interiors.

Docking
Docking

To dock with a station, pilots must first request docking permissions by accessing the navigational terminal's "Contacts" tab. Pilots farther than 7,500m from a station will be automatically denied access and asked to approach to said distance first. In heavily populated or lagging instances, all ports may be occupied and a permit will be denied. Once granted, the pilot will be assigned a landing pad number to approach and land on. If the pilot does not land within the allotted time slot [usually 10 minutes], the pilot will have to exit the station and request additional permissions. Attempting to dock without permissions will trigger a lethal response within 60 seconds. This includes docking on the incorrect landing platform.

If docking control responds with a generic "docking request denied" message, then it's likely all landing pads are occupied. One can circumvent this by logging out of the open play and into solo play will usually fix this. Once docked, you can switch back to open play.

Upon undocking from your landing platform, you will have 5 minutes to exit the station before you are considered a loiterer and a 60-second hostility timer begins.

To either side of the docking port are lights coloured green and red. Pilots should approach on the side with the green lights to reduce the chance of a collision.

Ship Storage
Players can purchase and store additional ships at each station and switch freely between them when docked. These can be accessed from the shipyard section of the starport services screen.

No Fire Zone
All stations have an area surrounding them designated a no fire zone. You are notified each time your ship enters and exits this area. You will also receive a message when your ship enters this zone to retract your weapons, should they be deployed at the time. If you should fire any of your weapons within the no fire zone you will be fined. Station defences will activate and open fire on your ship if your weapons hit the station or any ship that is not wanted in that jurisdiction. Using any scanner within the no fire zone is perfectly legitimate and legal.

Dumping any cargo within the no fire zone will get you fined, except while docked in the station.

Travelling faster than 100 m/s in a no fire zone will give you a reckless flying fine if you are in a collision with another ship, however this does not apply for speeds under 100 m/s. If a collision, no matter the speed, results in a ship being destroyed you will be charged for murder and have the station open fire on you.
Construction
While Outposts (and possibly Coriolis stations) are constructed in orbit where they are needed, Ocellus and Orbis stations are partially constructed elsewhere, transported to their destinations, and then completed. The Ocellus and Orbis dock enclosures are built first, then attached to an engine assembly that allows them to jump to the final build site. Upon arrival, the docks are opened to the public for docking, but remain stationary. The engines are eventually detached, and a spire built along the dock's rear axis to accommodate habitation rings, solar panel arrays, and other modules. Once the station's modules are completed, the station is rotated and is considered fully online.

Sagittarius A*, often abbreviated as Sag A* or "Saga", is a famous system that serves as the exact centre of the galaxy. It is home to the game's only known Supermassive Black Hole, and a much smaller white star called Source 2. The system is very popular due to its significance as the centre of the galaxy, and is a common destination for explorers.

Sagittarius A* is 25,900 light years from Sol. It will take roughly 700 jumps to reach the system with a 35-40ly jump range. The record time for reaching Sagittarius A* is around 8-9 hours of nonstop play and not exploring the systems on the way there. Normally, a realistic, profitable voyage to Sagittarius A* and back will take a few weeks.
A voyage to Sagittarius A* and back is not easy - in fact, it is sometimes said to be quite dangerous, but if you ping every system with your Discovery Scanner and explore the ones that look valuable, it can be extremely profitable - you can make several tens of millions from a Sagittarius A* trip.
The Right Stuff
If you want to set off on the journey, you need to be equipped properly:
*An exploration ship - you can't go exploring without having a ship meant for it! Diamondback Explorers are particularly recommended for exploration due to their low cost (2 million credits) and very high maximum jump range (40ly). Asp Explorers also have a high jump range at 37ly, but they are much more expensive at a price of 6 million credits. Anacondas are capable of reaching up to 40ly, but it is extremely expensive. Shorter voyages to other locations like the Orion Nebula can be accomplished in a Cobra MkIII or a Hauler, however.
*Advanced Discovery Scanner - most systems, especially systems with hot, white stars, will have objects that are over 1,000 light-seconds away from the star and will not be detected with an Intermediate or Basic scanner.
*Detailed Surface Scanner - Detailed surface scans will maximise the amount of credits you can get by scanning objects.
*Class D modules, except Frame Shift Drive (FSD) - Having Class D modules will increase your jump range, but your FSD must be the best it can possibly be. The best FSDs cost around 4-5 million credits. By the way, if you get worried downgrading your modules to Class D, don't. You don't actually need anything other than Class D (Except your FSD, of course), including Life Support, Power Plant, and Thrusters. Installing an A-rated smaller Power Plant in some cases might be preferable to a D-rated larger one, due to higher heat efficiency which will make scooping stars a lot easier.
*Fuel Scoop - there are no stations on the way to Sagittarius A*, which means you'll have to fly into a star's corona to refill your fuel tank. Equip the best one you can afford, you don't want to spend more time next to the star than you absolutely need to.
*Bringing weapons and most utility modules is not recommended! There will probably be no-one around to attack you while exploring, and having weapons or utility slots on board will decrease your jump range. The only utility modules that would be of any use are heat-sinks and shield boosters.
*Shields are useful for preventing damage when landing on planets and for the occasional pirate on return to civilization. Also useful for protection from players who occasionally hang around Sagittarius A* preying on unprotected explorers.
*Auto Field-Maintenance Units are handy to have but they're not essential. Your modules will deteriorate over time and it's likely you will warp into a not-nice location along the way. They don't really reduce your jump range significantly.
Patience is Key
Sagittarius A* isn't exactly a walk down the street - it's 25,900 light years away from sol. You read that right - Twenty-five thousand light years from Sol. You won't be able to plop yourself in the seat of an Asp Explorer, hop on over to the centre of the galaxy, and get back to Earth in time for tea at grandma's. It takes, at the absolute minimum, 8 hours to get there. That's not an awfully long time, but remember that the guy that got there in 8 hours did literally nothing else but get to his destination, and 8 hours is just the time it took to get there, and it's unknown how long he spent getting back to Sol.

If you want a profitable voyage, you'll need both time and patience and you must be able to handle being away from civilisation for a few weeks of playing until you get to the core where it's likely you'll meet up with other visiting explorers.
Know What You Can Scoop
Not every star is scoopable - only 7 star types are scoopable:
*Red Dwarf Stars (M)
*Orange Dwarf Stars (K)
*Yellow Dwarf Stars (G)
*Yellow-White Dwarf Stars (F)
*Blue Main Sequence Stars (A, B and O)
The sequence can be remembered with the phrase, "Oh Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me!" or simply "KGB Foam". Be aware that T-Tauri stars are often mistaken for normal stars, as they look exactly the same - but you can tell if it's a T-Tauri star if you get into fuel scooping range and nothing happens. It will also show that it's a T-Tauri star on the system map. Be aware that sometimes you will stumble into massive swathes of space that are full of T-Tauri stars and you might run low on Fuel while inside. If this happens, search for the nearest scoopable star or if there are none nearby and you're close enough to inhabited space (<1,000ly), you can get someone with Fuel Transfer Drone to help out.

Running out of fuel in the middle of a voyage is the worst thing that can happen to an explorer - without fuel, you can't make jumps, your modules will run out of power, and you'll be left to die. Unless the fuel rats manage to save you.

System Layout
* Sagittarius A*
** Sagittarius A*
** 2/

Notes
* Sagittarius A* is the only known Supermassive Black Hole in the game - as well as being one of the largest objects.
* Being the centre of the galaxy, Sagittarius A* is one of the most popular systems outside of inhabited space. It is particularly popular with explorers, but caution is advised if going there in Open Play as some explorers have had issues with gankers waiting at the black hole to interdict unarmed explorers going to the system.
* Many explorers have pleaded to have a special community goal to colonise the system and build Starports there.
* Special voyages have been proposed to bring an Unknown Artefact to the black hole and see if it will do anything. None have been attempted due to how far away it is, the knowledge that it might do nothing at all, and the fact that Unknown Artefacts attack your ship's modules.
* On 18/02/16 Sagittarius A* became the first location where the theoretical instance cap was broken with over 50 player ships in the same visible space. Soon after this record was again broken with 101 players recorded.
* The maximum surface scan range for Sagittarius A* is 144,278 Ls.

To claim a bounty a player only needs to find a target with an active bounty on them and destroy their ship. Getting the final "kill" shot is not required to claim the bounty if the following conditions are met: (1) No other players who are not part of your wing attack and hit the ship since your last successful hit on the target. NPC attacks do not count as kill credit to a player is prioritized over an NPC. (2) Your last successful hit on the target was within a short time frame before the killing blow, usually within the last 15-30 seconds or so. Wing mates getting the killing blow will still award you a claim if your last hit on the target was within a decent time-frame.

Claims can be redeemed in the Local Security Offices section of the Contacts menu at any station in a system where the target was wanted. It is important to note that if you fire before the target is designated as 'wanted' then you will gain your own bounty.

As of 1.03 bounty hunting now gains a reputation gain with the faction you hunt in. Both stations and traders (including their fighter escorts) will appear as green blips on your radar and will assist you if attacked. In the case of traders, they only appear as green when encountering them for the second time, the first time they appear as any other random, non-aligned NPC.

Bounty Vouchers
Bounty vouchers are awarded when a commander destroys a ship that had a bounty on it. These vouchers must be cashed in at an appropriate contact to receive the reward.

Kills and associated bounty vouchers are recorded in the ship's log, so if your ship is destroyed before you get back to a station contact to present them for payment, then the vouchers will be lost along with the ship and you will not be able to cash them in. An exception to this is if the bounty voucher was awarded in the presence of a system authority vessel in which case they "radio" the kill confirmation back to their home station.

Bounty Value
Bounty value on NPC ships is somewhat random, but seems to scale proportionately both with class of ship and with skill of the pilot. An Elite Sidewinder might be worth more than a harmless ASP, even though the effort required to take down the latter may be greater than the effort for the former. Commonly seen ships and their bounties are below (bounties taken with Kill Warrant Scanner in an anarchy system - local system bounties may add to overall value):
* Sidewinder: 200 - 8,000 Cr
* Eagle: 1,000 - 9,000 Cr
* Cobra MkIII: 5,000 - 25,000Cr
* Viper MkIII: 10,000 - 43,000 Cr
* Hauler/Adder: 1,500 - 10,000 Cr
* Lakon Type-6/7: 3,000 - 20,000 Cr
* Miscellaneous Super-Heavies (Imperial Clipper, Federal Dropship, Python): ~20,000 - 200,000 Cr
* Anaconda: 50,000 - 350,000 Cr
These figures are highly subject to change on an individual basis and are just a vague guide.

Most stations will display the 5 most wanted players in the system along with where they were last active and their bounty. Hunting other players can bring in bounty vouchers worth millions provided they do not Alt+F4 before you get the kill.
Combat Bond Vouchers are monetary rewards earned through faction combat in conflict zones.

Each time upon entering a conflict zone players have the unique opportunity to side with a faction (by setting the preferred faction in-game in the Systems panel under Functions) in order to battle the opposition. For each destroyed ship combat bond vouchers are handed out and which, in turn, can be redeemed at the local station's combat bond contact.

The amount of rewarded credits for each destroyed ship is fixed and depends upon ship type. In general it goes that the heavier a ship, the higher the reward.
Notes
* The reward range for combat bond vouchers seems meager compared to bounty vouchers. However note that you are in a co-operative battle.
** Prioritize Federal Corvettes, Imperial Cutters, Anacondas and Pythons. If there are none in scanner range, use "Select highest threat" targeting control to find your next target, regardless of their Combat Bond value - at least one or more Friendlies will engage same target, giving you a wingman - this makes fighting bigger ships much easier. Because this is a co-operative battle it is acceptable to get in on kills etc.
** By continuously eliminating the same target as NPC Friendlies, you will be able to establish a power ball of friendly ships, which will steamroll around your Conflict Zone. It occasionally breaks up when it comes on a fresh spawn of Hostile ships. Watch your radar for large concentrations of hostile ships, and if you spot your Friendlies heading in that direction, simply let them charge in, then go in for assist on heaviest Hostile ship and start over.

Trivia
* Rewards were doubled in Powerplay update.
It is as noted for its high manoeuvrability and firepower as it is for its low shielding and range. It is typically launched as support craft for an imperial cruiser, and is useless on its own if outflanked or outnumbered. It is most commonly seen in conflict zones which include an imperial faction, or patrolling space stations in imperial territory.

The Imperial Fighter is currently accessible in Close Quarters Combat and with the release of Elite Dangerous: Horizons 2.2 "The Guardians" update, the Imperial Fighter is a Ship-Launched Fighter that can be deployed from a Fighter Hangar module.
The Imperial Fighter can be purchased in Empire systems only, but can be restocked in any system.
Description
The blueprint describes the Imperial Fighter "The Empire's standard small class single man fighter is as famous for its agility as it is for its short range.
