I have to reflect the OPs sentiments regarding heat and silent running. Heat is an element of the game that an average player (like me!) won't even have a problem with UNTIL they mistakenly go into silent running during a dogfight.. If you start getting heat warnings at that point, it's difficult to move logically from the heat warnings to a "Check if you're in silent running mode" whether you know the hotkeys or not. In my case, I understood that it had to do with the use of my ships systems, I had the presence of mind to stop firing and go to zero throttle, I even took power away from shields and moved through the ESC->Controls menu. I even quickly bound the heat sink button and tried it. But within 45 seconds i was dead. It was not until about 3 minutes later that i found this post! Heat killed me too! "Educate your brain!"

{{quote|Missile battery capable of launching [...] missiles.|In-Game Description}}

The Missile Rack is currently the only way to launch missiles.

Like all other weapons missiles must be assigned to a fire group in order to shoot. There are two types of missiles: dumbfire and seeker. Dumbfire missiles will shoot similar to other fixed weapons - straight and towards the crosshair. Seeker missiles will continuously lock onto targets, but will only launch when given the order to fire and once launched will attempt to follow (and blow up) their target.

An alert sound will go off when a seeker missile has been fired at the player and can be seen on the radar. Outmaneuvering seeker missiles can be very tricky and boosting will not outrun a seeker missile. Currently the only hard counter to missiles is a [[Point Defence Turret]] which will shoot down incoming missiles.

==Munitions==
Spent ammunition must be replenished once used. Any station is equipped with a "Re-arm" service will be able to replenish ammunition. Once docked at the station, ammunition can be purchased from the Munitions menu in the Starport Services.
<!-- Tested C1 Seeker Missiles on Jan 6, 2015-->
Missiles cost 500 CR per unit. In this case one missile is one unit. It will cost 12,000 CR to reload all 24 rounds in an empty missile rack.
