Advanced stellar body scanner used during exploration.

The Detailed Surface Scanner will give a pilot info on the composition of a moon, planet, star, or other stellar body and also data such as orbital distance and orbit time. Using this module is the ONLY way to claim first exploration and permanently mark the object with your commander's name.

A Discovery Scanner is required for this module to be useful; both modules must be present on the ship for this one to provide information. Use of this module can increase the amount of credits that can be earned in stellar cartography from anywhere between 50%-1000%, depending on the object and is considered essential for any pilot wanting to use exploration as their primary source of income.

In order to use this module a pilot must select the unexplored entity from their navigation panel then fly to within range (varies due to entity diameter) just as with scanning with the discovery scanner and as such does not need bound to a firing group.

The scan will take from 35 seconds down to 10 seconds depending upon the range at which the entity is scanned, 35 seconds for maximum range down to a minimum of 10 for close range. This difference in scan times may make it worthwhile to get closer to an entity being scanned to save a few seconds but risks the pilot being caught in the entity's gravity well.

Upon completion of the scan the pilot will receive a message confirming the detailed scan.

Rapid Fire, small calibre projectile weapon...

A multi-cannon is a large caliber machine gun mounted on one of your ship's hardpoints and needs assigning to a fire group before it can be used. These weapons are projectile based and use actual ammunition, which needs replenishing when depleted. Multi-cannons consume less power than energy weapons and as a result, give off less heat. These weapons generally have a longer range than their energy counterparts. They fire from a magazine of 90 shots, which automatically reloads when empty. Each multi-cannon that's been mounted, and is active, has its own pool of 2100(when full) ammunition to supply it.

Multi-cannons are available as fixed, gimbal mounted, and turreted versions.

Munitions
Spent ammunition must be replenished once used. Any station is equipped with a "Re-arm" service will be able to replenish ammunition. Once docked at the station, ammunition can be purchased from the Munitions menu in the Starport Services.
<!-- Tested ? on ?, 2015-->
Each shot costs 1 CR, therefore each magazine costs 90 CR, and one increment of 100 (standard re-arm unit) is 100 CR. Example: you fire 460 rounds in a fight, your total cost will be 460 CR, 4 "units" at 100 CR each, and a prorated "unit" of 60 rounds at 60 CR.
Missile battery capable of launching [...] missiles.

The Missile Rack is currently the only way to launch missiles.

Like all other weapons missiles must be assigned to a fire group in order to shoot. There are two types of missiles: dumbfire and seeker. Dumbfire missiles will shoot similar to other fixed weapons - straight and towards the crosshair. Seeker missiles will continuously lock onto targets, but will only launch when given the order to fire and once launched will attempt to follow (and blow up) their target.

An alert sound will go off when a seeker missile has been fired at the player and can be seen on the radar. Outmaneuvering seeker missiles can be very tricky and boosting will not outrun a seeker missile. Currently the only hard counter to missiles is a Point Defence Turret which will shoot down incoming missiles.

As of patch 1.6 or 2.1 for Horizons owners, explosive damage against shields has been significantly buffed, making missiles significantly more useful despite their limited ammuntion. Certain special effects like overload munitions increase its damage against shields even further.

Munitions
Spent ammunition must be replenished once used. Any station that is equipped with a "Re-arm" service will be able to replenish ammunition. Once docked at the station, ammunition can be purchased from the Munitions menu in the Starport Services.
<!-- Tested C1 Seeker Missiles on Jan 6, 2015-->
Missiles cost 500 CR per unit. In this case one missile is one unit. It will cost 12,000 CR to reload all 24 rounds in an empty missile rack. Seeker Missile Racks can only contain 18 Missiles total (6 in launcher, 12 reserve). They cost the exact same amount to reload (12,000 CR)
* This list requires expansion

Notes
* Keep in mind that Missiles do explosive damage and as such anything in the explosion area (including your own ship) will take damage.
* Seeker missiles are not affected by chaff, as they lock onto the heat signature of your target.
* Missiles currently deal an extremely limited amount of sustained hull damage to larger ships compared to weapons of comparable size, being easily outclassed in terms of DPS by other kinetic weaponry.
