I use two class 4 Plasma Accellerators with G5 Rapid Fire modifications from Bill Turner, can kill an Elite Anaconda in around 3 clips - with my dirty drives I do overheat, but the feeling you get from taking down a Gunships shields and hull to 80% with one shot from each PA is awesome. I understand that beams may be more effective, but damn PAs are fun.

2.2 nerfed this considerably - the data transfer missions are harder to get and the biowaste/hydrogen fuel courier missions give less than 20% of their prior rewards. That said, it's still pretty quick to get fed rank - New Dawn Station in Ceos gives the best missions, my advice is buy a stock Cobra Mk. III from there and do runs between Sothis (Sothis Mining and Newholm Station) and Ceos. You might still be able to get up to 10-15m cr with a large ship on the return journey to the main bubble with the courier missions, but nowhere near the 75m you could earn pre-2.2.

Tl;Dr:

Still good for Fed rank grind, but don't bother with the biowaste/hydrogen fuel missions.
