For sure, based off your "1v1" remark I had assumed you were speaking in a pvp context. In pve basically anything goes however the slf will definately be an advantage as far as ammo conservation and longevity goes.

The ax multi cannon works just like a normal turret. Set it to "target only" or "fire at will" and it will operate just as you would expect. I haven't tried the other experimental turreted weps so I can't say if those work normally or not.

I guess it's to the empire what Sol is to the federation, in that it is their home world. You are right there is really nothing special about it though. For that matter most of the permit locked systems, with the exception of shinrarta and sol, are not really special in any way.
