I ended up with the 6B because of the price, not that I wouldn't afford it but to keep the rebuy price of the ship low in a case the worst happens. 6B still has a very good scoop rate so I didn't see a point in investing into the 6A.

So the reservoir (upper bar) is one ton? But why aren't the segments in the lower bar (main tank) one ton each, then? I can see them varying a bit with the same fuel tank size, the left-most being usually incomplete, so is one full segment the maximum hyper jump distace then?

I don't remember when the additional fuel tanks were added in the game, but they can hold the same amount of fuel as the cargo racks of the same size, so fuel rats are probably using them because fuel limpets can only transfer the fuel from a fuel tank to another.
