The '''Type-7 Transporter''' is a large freighter produced by [[Lakon Spaceways]]. A dedicated trading vessel, the Type-7 occupies a niche between the smaller [[Type-6 Transporter]] and the larger [[Type-9 Heavy]] in terms of overall cargo capacity. Although its cargo capacity is unimpressive compared to other large ships, such as the [[Type-9 Heavy]], the Type-7's appeal lies in its relatively low purchase cost for its size and its moderate jump range, making it a highly-accessible option for trading.

==Overview==
The Type-7 is a bulky trader and is the next step for a trader, up from the [[Type-6]]. It features far better cargo capacity and nearly thrice the amount. Due to the Type-7 requiring a large [[Landing Pad]], it cannot dock at [[Outpost]]s, which somewhat limits its utility compared to medium ships with smaller cargo capacities such as the [[Python]]. However it is much less expensive and is still able to carry more cargo. Additionally the T-7 is the cheapest and smallest large ship in the game.

Repair costs on the Type-7 are low which makes trading without shields a reasonable strategy if you can avoid combat along the way; however, this can be rather risky as the low manoeuvrability makes the T-7 interdiction vulnerable meaning it is not always guaranteed to evade. However an upside is that the T-7's rather ludicrous pitch and yaw speed combined with decent base speed lets it get away and make a [[hyperspace]] jump out of combat. Keep in mind the T-7's mass lock factor is a measly 10; by far the lowest of any large ship and smaller than most medium ships.

In combat, the T-7, unlike the [[Hauler]] and [[Type-6]], is somewhat viable. With turreted mounts, its decent shields and hull as well as four hardpoints—which puts its damage on par with the [[Adder]]—it can pump out solid damage and can do a decent job of keeping gimballed and fixed mounts on their targets, and can at the very least make pirates operate with caution. While a dedicated combat T-7 is ill-advised, it is still capable of combat unlike its predecessors and is a good way of collecting bounties along with cargo until the Python or Type-9 become available, as both are very capable of combat and trade at the same time.

The Type-7 is a viable exploration ship, with some caveats. With ranges around 30LY, the ship is very capable of long range jumps and can be very good at long range deliveries or [[Rare Goods]] trading. That said, the Type-7 can easily go from 39% heat to nearly 90% just while charging its FSD for a hyperspace jump. This can make fuel scooping a tricky endeavor and the lack of thermal headroom should be kept in mind when fitting the Type-7 for exploration or long-distance travel.

The Type-7 is also a viable [[miner]] as it has enough hardpoints to mine effectively and more than enough compartment and cargo space to hold minerals and ores. It will be virtually incapable at defending itself however so in this situation a [[Keelback]] may be more useful.

Overall the T-7 is a dedicated trader just like the T-6 though has some other merits worth mentioning. It is a good stepping stone towards the end-game trader the Type-9 and has a reasonable price tag for its uses.

The weapon hardpoints are located as follows: Two forward mounted Class 1 small hardpoints next to the cockpit (one on each side, visible from cockpit), One underside mounted Class 1 small hardpoint located amidships and off-center to the right, and One top mounted Class 1 small hardpoint located amidships. The top and bottom hardpoints have a full hemisphere of clear lines of fire making them good places for turrets, while the two front mounted hardpoints are mostly suited for fixed and gimballed weapons. A word of caution in the Type-7 is to keep in mind the cockpit is at the bottom front of the ship with a large area of the ship directly above the pilot. It is very common for pilots to crash the T-7 into the mail slot due to this.

Note: As of v1.4.01 it is possible to overheat and do module damage to a stock T-7 if the frame-shift drive is charged for a jump to supercruise or hyperspace but not throttled up/aligned for a jump. It is a good idea to carry [[Heatsink Launcher|heatsinks]] in the T-7.

This offsets the low manoeuvrability rating when it comes to docking manually. Additionally, the Type-7 has the highest base yaw speed of any jump capable ship.
* The Type-7 is tied with the [[Diamondback Scout]] for the lowest amount of [[Livery]] options available (excluding the [[Cobra MkIV]]), with only three paint packs each and no ship kits.

The '''{{PAGENAME}}''' is a heavily armed and well-protected craft, boasting considerable maneuverability for its hulking size. Despite being exceptionally powerful and potentially useful in a variety of roles, the Python does suffer from exceptionally high operating costs, making it a potentially cost-prohibitive option for many pilots.

It is considered by some to be the most effective balance between firepower, maneuverability, and protection currently available. In addition to being capable of holding its own against the larger [[Anaconda]] in a toe-to-toe frontal battle through its substantial protection and firepower, the {{PAGENAME}}''' '''is generally agile enough to comfortably deal with smaller fighter classes without having to rely on turret mounts.

The {{PAGENAME}} can also serve as a heavily armed freighter in that it can carry 284 T of cargo with a class 3 [[shield]] module fitted, or 292 T with no shield fitted, both of which is more cargo than the [[Type-7 Transporter]] can carry without shields fitted. Additionally, besides being able to carry more cargo while retaining shields, the {{PAGENAME}} can dock at [[Outpost]]s since it utilizes medium sized landing pads. However, the downside to trading with a {{PAGENAME}} is its higher repair/maintenance costs and its shorter jump range when fully loaded.

The weapon hard points are located as follows: two large hardpoints located either side of the ships spine around the midship, and two medium points located slightly behind the cockpit. The final large hardpoint is located on the underside of the nose section. The nose mounted hardpoint has good vertical field of fire when gimballed or turreted (considering its location) which gives the Python a good field of fire where all weapon hardpoints can track and hit a target (when gimbaled or turreted).

The '''{{PAGENAME}}''', one of three freighters manufactured by [[Lakon Spaceways]], is mainly used for trading and hauling [[commodities]] throughout the galaxy. This ship has a medium [[Landing Pad|landing pad]] size and, unlike both of Lakon's larger trading vessels, may still dock at [[Outpost]]s. Due to the poor armour and manoeuvrability is not suited for combat and it is advisable that [[Trader|traders]] avoid entering any combat situation without an escort or upgrading shields / hull.

When fitted for maximum cargo capacity, which can reach 112 tons, many traders find that the {{PAGENAME}} becomes quite suited for trading standard commodities in bulk rather than hauling rare commodities long distances. After upgrading the [[Frame Shift Drive]] to increase its jump range, the {{PAGENAME}} can be equally good at hauling commodities long distances.

The {{PAGENAME}} has also found a niche as an exploration vessel; when stripped of all unnecessary weight and stocked with an upgraded frame shift drive, the {{PAGENAME}} can reach jump ranges just short of the [[Asp Explorer]] at a much lower cost, though it is significantly less capable of defending itself should it encounter a hostile vessel, and is still quite a bit more expensive than the [[Cobra]] which can also be used for exploration.

Prior to v1.2, the Type-6 had a tendency to run hot - to 100% or greater - making fuel scooping and consecutive hyperspace jumps more risky unless an A-rated power plant was also used (reducing the average maximum heat to 95%). As of v1.2, this tendency has been corrected and the ship now runs much cooler, making it less likely that modules suffer heat damage.

* The Class 3 Shield Generator that comes equipped by default is suboptimal for the ship's weight and thus, while it will save on repair costs when bumping into objects, will not hold up very well against an attack. It is recommended to replace the default Class 3 Shield Generator with a Class 4 as doing so will greatly increase the shield's strength and will only reduce cargo capacity by 8 Tons.

It is considered by some to be the most effective balance between firepower, manoeuvrability, and protection currently available. In addition to being capable of holding its own against the larger [[Anaconda]] in a toe-to-toe frontal battle through its substantial protection and firepower, the {{PAGENAME}}''' '''is generally agile enough to comfortably deal with smaller fighter classes without having to rely on turret mounts.

The {{PAGENAME}} can also serve as a heavily armed freighter in that it can carry 284 T of cargo with a class 3 [[shield]] module fitted, or 292 T with no shield fitted, both of which is more cargo than the [[Type-7 Transporter]] can carry without shields fitted. Additionally, besides being able to carry more cargo while retaining shields, the {{PAGENAME}} can dock at [[Outpost]]s since it utilizes medium sized landing pads. However, the downside to trading with a {{PAGENAME}} is its higher repair/maintenance costs and its shorter jump range when fully loaded.

The weapon hard points are located as follows: 1 medium and 1 large hardpoint on the top of the ship slightly behind and on both sides of the cockpit for a total of 2 large and 2 medium on upper surface, and 1 large hardpoint on the underside of the ship about where the cockpit is located. The under the nose mounted large hardpoint has good vertical field of fire when gimbaled or turreted (considering its location) which gives the Python a good field of fire where all weapon hardpoints can track and hit a target (when gimbaled or turreted).
