The Cutter is a heavily armed ship, featuring four medium [[hardpoint]]s: two on the nacelles and two on the chin; two large hardpoints on top of the ship and a single huge hardpoint on the chin. Notably, the exterior lights on the ship change color from blue to red once hardpoints are deployed. It has 8 utility mounts and is one of the 7 ships compatible with [[Fighter_Hangar|fighter hangar]] for [[Ship-Launched_Fighters|ship-launched fighters]] as of the release of [[Horizons]]: Guardians.

With a staggering 792 tons of max cargo capacity, the Imperial Cutter has the largest cargo bay of all playable ships in the game, an almost 50% increase in size from the [[Type-9 Heavy]], while having significantly better defensive and offensive capabilities and speed than the latter. This makes it an ideal ship for traders. However it is also the most expensive ship in the game at a cost almost three times higher than a Type-9, and requires very high rank with the Empire to purchase.

Unlike the Type-9, it is extremely well-shielded, very fast for its size (though not maneuverable as it will take more than 8 seconds at minimum to make a 180 degree turn and more than 17 seconds for a 360 degree turn), and reasonably well-armed, giving it far greater survivability and allowing some limited use of it as a combat ship, especially in the piracy role. In addition, with plenty of internals available to mount mining accessories while still leaving the largest open for cargo holds, excellent speed for moving from asteroid to asteroid, and a sufficiency of medium weapon mounts, the Cutter is an excellent choice for mining.

The pilot's station is offset to the right of the ship's centerline. Currently, the primary and secondary fire group HUD brackets are misaligned with their centerline being far above where the weapon reticles appear. This means that it is not possible to use the center of the side brackets to align the ship with a destination as doing so will cause the ship to fly under the target and not straight at the target. Instead, for alignment in supercruise, use the center space between the repeating series of bars that appear to indicate speed and movement as a general guide to line up the ship with distant destinations along with the nav compass.

The '''Imperial Clipper''', built by [[Gutamaya]], is one of the [[Empire]]'s [[ships]] and thus are generally sold at [[Station]]s that are aligned with the Empire. To purchase the Imperial Clipper players must have earned the rank of Baron with the Imperial Navy.<ref group="nb">[[GalNet]] announced [https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/55a4dc5d9657ba6d253de737 14 Jul 3301] that all independent pilots with an active Imperial Navy rank could now purchase the Clipper.</ref>

This ship is quite popular with [[pirate]]s, [[trader]]s, and some combat pilots. It is a reasonable pirate ship due to the large cargo capacity and heavy armament. Traders may find this ship appealing due to its superb cargo capacity and defensive capability; while it is more expensive than the [[Lakon Type-7]] it can easily defend itself against a pirate.

Pilots of any [[profession]] may appreciate its speed; with fully upgraded [[Thrusters]], it is comparable to that of smaller ships such as the [[Cobra MkIII]] and the [[Imperial Eagle]]. Additionally, its pitch rotation and yaw speed are higher than most ships, making it feel like a very hefty, weighted-down [[Eagle]] with a boost speed that is higher than that of the [[Viper MkIII|Viper]]. Its only manoeuvering drawback, and likely the reason for its low overall agility rating, is its poor lateral thruster capability; the vertical-lateral thrusters are very weak compared to those of other ships. This weakness, combined with very weak [[shield]]s for its size and wing-mounted [[hardpoint]]s ill-suited for fixed weapons, limits the Imperial Clipper's efficiency as a PvP [[combat]] ship even if the shields are upgraded to maximum. The Imperial Clipper is also currently the fourth widest ship controllable by players, which may pose a challenge with docking.

Speed and manoeuvrability fall off more heavily when heavily loaded than other ships, bringing it back into more normal speeds and turn rates when hauling cargo.

Both the ships interior and exterior are luxurious in design, the engines sport a radically different sound than other ships, and the large cockpit canopy features an unobstructed view of space.

The weapon hardpoints are located as follows: One Class 3 large hardpoint on the top of each wingtip nacelle (total of two class 3 mounts), and One Class 2 medium hardpoint on the underside of each wing where the wing attaches to the main fuselage (total of two class 2 mounts). The wingtip mounts are very far from centerline and will have trouble converging their fields of fire unless used with gimbaled or turret mounted weapons. The underside mounts although closer together, also suffer the same field of fire convergence issues although to a lesser degree than the wingtip mounts.

The pilot's station is offset to the right of the centerline of the ship. The auxiliary station is even with the pilot's station and is offset to the left of the centerline of the ship.

The '''Imperial Courier''' is a fast multipurpose ship just barely larger than the [[Sidewinder]]. It is the third-lightest-hulled playable ship (after the Sidewinder and [[Hauler]]) thus far but its upgrades are heavier.

The Imperial Courier is armed and very well [[shield]]ed for its small size, making it a great and evasive fighter in combat. In terms of agility it ranks somewhere close to the [[Viper MkIII]]. While it has a good pitch rotation speed, its slightly weaker vertical-lateral thrusters cause the Courier to drift more than the Viper. Even though the Courier has the same top boost speed as Viper, due to its low hull mass relative to modules, it is slightly slower and can't boost as often as the Viper, dropping down from the top speed faster.

The Imperial Courier's shields are much better than the [[Viper MkIII]]'s and [[Cobra MkIII]]'s, being almost on par with those on a [[Vulture]]. Unlike the Vulture, the Imperial Courier does not have as severe of power management issues, and is thus better able to equip [[Shield Booster|shield boosters]] and [[Shield Cell Bank]]s.

The weapon hardpoints are located in the following places: 1 medium hardpoint at the front of each engine nacelle, and 1 medium hardpoint underneath the nose.

The concept art image was shown during Frontier's Q&A session at [[Lavecon]] 2015 and it is variant of the [[Eagle MkII]]; also known as '''Eagle MkIII'''. It boasts superior armour and shield strength in addition to one medium [[Hardpoint]] replacing one of the three small hardpoints on the regular Eagle MkII. It is one of the fastest ships in the game; in fact, with EP thrusters and Engineer upgrades, it may have the highest potential normal-space speed of any playable ship.

The weapon hardpoints are located as follows: a single medium hardpoint on the top of the ship behind the cockpit and two small hardpoints mounted side-by-side on the underside of the main fuselage in front of the bump that contains the cargo scoop.

According to the Powerplay players' guide, all Imperial ships can be found on [[Zemina Torval]]'s controlled systems (Not exploited systems, just controlled ones), Tested on Jan 3rd, 2015 and all the 4 imperial ships were found in Zeterat System (Skjellerup Terminal), and Amphisatsu System (Goldberg Orbital).
