Frontier: Elite II is a space trading and combat simulator game written by David Braben and published by GameTek in 1993. It's the long-awaited sequel to Ian Bell and David Braben's earlier game Elite, part of the Elite series and available for Commodore Amiga, Atari ST and PC computers.

Frontier retains the same principal component of Elite—namely completely open-ended gameplay—and adds to this realistic physics and an accurately modeled galaxy. There is no plot within Frontier, nor are there pre-scripted missions (as there are in its sequel, Frontier: First Encounters); instead players explore space while trading legally or illegally, carrying out missions for the military, ferrying passengers from system to system, engaging in piracy or any combination of the above. As a consequence, Frontier cannot be completed or "won" - instead, players themselves decide what to aspire to and set out to achieve it.

The author Drew Wagar wrote an in-depth article about the history of Frontier: Elite II.

Stories of Life on The Frontier
This book is a collection eight short stories which came free with Frontier: Elite II in 1993. It's written by David Massey, Moira Sheehan and Kathy Dickinson. These stories are set in the Elite Universe. Although each one can be read as a standalone story, there is an overall story-arc between each. The sub-character from one story becomes the main character in the following. Perhaps for the final piece, <em>Full Circle,</em> you need to have read the previous seven. It adheres to the Elite universe very closely and the writing is of a high standard. You can read it here.

There are a number of elements introduced in <em>Stories Of Life On The Frontier</em>, with everything from dubious practices of slave trading operations, Federal Pilot Academy to <em>Cold War</em> like espionage between the Federation and Empire. However, the main idea is that of the adventures of Commanders; their explorations, battles, dangers and day-to-day life out in the Elite universe.

Reception
Frontier: Elite II is highly acclaimed. Here are some reviews:
* CU Amiga gave it 97% and described it as "the ultimate in space adventure, Frontier is the single most important step forward for games this decade."

The Vulture is a heavy space superiority fighter.

With its two large (class 3) hardpoints, the Vulture sports superb fire power for its relatively small frame. Although it lacks top speed compared to other ships, its lateral thrusters put the ship among the most agile and manoeuvrable fighters, thus allowing for more powerful lateral slides and vertical hops.

The Vulture's main drawback is its limited power capacity given the two large hardpoints and the excessive amounts of utility mounts and internal compartments on offer, which can be counteracted to a degree by smart module priority control and sacrifices in the loadout choice. Moreover, the Vulture's power plant is notorious for being prone to malfunctions: taking damage to the power plant will often result in the ship being temporarily shut down entirely, which can be lethal in the middle of a fight.

The two large hardpoints are located above and behind the cockpit, about halfway down the hull of the ship. Due to the spacing between the hardpoints, a loadout of two fixed weapons may have slight issues with converging on smaller targets like Sidewinders, Eagles, or Haulers.

The Vulture has two visible manned stations. The pilot's chair is on the centerline of the ship. The auxiliary station is offset to the port side (left side) and is above and behind the pilot's station.

The Vulture has an available 16 piece cosmetic ship kit that can be purchased from the Frontier store which allows you to "remodel your ship in your personal style". The ship kit does not affect gameplay.
Frontier: First Encounters is a space trading and combat simulator video game for the IBM PC, released on April 16, 1995. It's the sequel to Frontier: Elite II (released in 1993) and it's the third game in the Elite series which first debuted on the Acorn BBC Micro computer in 1984. The planned Amiga version of First Encounters was never completed; it had been originally slated for a summer 1995 release for the Amiga 1200, Amiga 4000, and CD32 systems. The game was created by David Braben's company, Frontier Developments, and distributed by GameTek. This game is often referred to by the shortened title of 'FFE'.

The original Eagle is a multi-role fighter where the Imperial version is geared more towards the interceptor role. It carries more powerful weaponry and is capable of higher speeds than the original, although at the expense of some of the original ship's famed manoeuvrablity.|In-game description}}
The Imperial Eagle was added in the v1.4 update CQC on October 6th, 2015. The concept art image was shown during Frontier's Q&A session at Lavecon 2015 and it is variant of the Eagle MkII; also known as Eagle MkIII. It is faster than the Eagle MkII at the cost of a lower manoeuvrability.

Overview
The Imperial Eagle boasts superior armour and shield strength in addition to one medium Hardpoint replacing one of the three small hardpoints on the regular Eagle MkII. It is one of the fastest ships in the game; in fact, with EP thrusters and Engineer upgrades, it may have the highest potential normal-space speed of any playable ship.

The weapon hardpoints are located as follows: a single medium hardpoint on the top of the ship behind the cockpit and two small hardpoints mounted side-by-side on the underside of the main fuselage in front of the bump that contains the cargo scoop.

Purchase Locations
According to the Powerplay players' guide, all Imperial ships can be found on Zemina Torval's controlled systems (Not exploited systems, just controlled ones), Tested on Jan 3rd, 2015 and all the 4 imperial ships were found in Zeterat System (Skjellerup Terminal), and Amphisatsu System (Goldberg Orbital). They can even be found on independent systems, as long as they are controlled by Zemina.

Gilya Signature Weapons are a type of rare weapon in the world of Elite Dangerous. They are a rare commodity, so increase in value the further you take them from their point of purchase.

Gilya Signature Weapons are currently available once again in the Gilya system, after a civil war overthrew the Gilya Vision Organisation who had banned them. Gilya Signature Weapons were back on the market when the Gilya Law Party took control of the Bell Orbital.
